Tamburo's big night leads Danbury to OT win

Reese Tamburo had a hat-trick in a 5-4 overtime win on Wednesday.

Danbury 5 @ Norwich 4 (OT): Reese Tamburo netted his third goal of the game 4:34 into the extra period to lift the Jr. Hat Tricks past Norwich 5-4. The Sea Captains held a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes of play as Brian Essing buried two goals while Cooper Betancourt got Danbury on the board. Oleg Egorov tied the scores up with an unassisted goal midway through the 2nd period. Minutes later Norwich recovered the lead thanks to a powerplay tally by Tim Hayden. Sean Loftus tickled twine in the final frame for Norwich. Tamburo heated up quickly in the period, scoring a pair of goals before picking up the extra point with the overtime winner. Ryan Maguire Kept out 42 of 46 shots faced in the win while Andrew Yocum made 24 saves for the Sea Captains. 

Long Beach 6 @ New Jersey 3: The Sharks took down New Jersey 6-3 Wednesday afternoon to even their season series at three wins a piece. Logan Plante and Walker Montgomery put the visitors ahead by two goals after one period of play. In the middle frame, Dylan Harbour, Christopher Keller, Zach Kretzchmer, and Henry Slager piled on more goals for Long Beach. Jacob Gray and Ryan Talorico gave the Titans some life with a pair of goals in the period. Sam Levin scored for New Jersey in the 3rd but it wasn’t enough for a comeback bid. In the creases, Ryo Murakami kept out 17 shots for the Sharks while Jake Agoglia and Daniel Antal combined for 29 saves for New Jersey. 

Northeast 7 @ Bay State 2: The Northeast Generals dominated the Bobcats 7-2 in their last matchups before heading to the NA3HL Showcase. Nolan Zotter and Davis Kinne got the offense rolling early with goals in the 1st period at the 1:14 and 3:45 marks. In the 2nd period, Mason Frary, Zotter, John Dicio, and Braeden Kennedy all lit the lamp to extend the lead. Bay State’s pair of goals both came in the 2nd period from Landen Schoonover and Paul Johnson. The Generals added another for good measure in the 3rd period from McCarthy Reed. Ian Kangas picked up the win in net making 25 saves on 27 shots. Jarret Perino and AJ Cooper combined for 39 saves for Bay State. 

Alexandria 7 @ Willmar 3: The Alexandria Blizzard dominated in their visiting matchup against the WarHawks, taking them down 7-3. Ethan Moerke scored a pair of goals for the Blizzard in the 1st while Justin Wasvick and Ryan Hadland also lit the lamp. Gunnar Sibley got the WarHawks on the board 8:32 into the period. The offense kept flowing for Alexandria in the 2nd period as Sean Kenny, Matt McIntyre, and Jack Carter all found the back of the net. Willmar’s remaining goals came in that period both from Gunnar Sibley, securing him the hat trick. Kyle Abrahamson kept out 26 of 29 in the victory while Willmar’s Zackary Ortolano and Michael D’Orazio combined for 26 stops.
