Norwich and Alexandria pick up wins on Wednesday
Alexandria forward Wyatt Johnson had two goals and an assist in a 6-2 win on Wednesday.
Norwich 2 @ Bay State 1 – The Sea Captains got 25 saves from Andrew Yocum in a 2-1 road win in Bay State on Wednesday. After a scoreless 1st period, the Sea Captains took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Erik Masengill and Brian Essing. In the 3rd period, the Bobcats broke the shutout chance and pulled to within 2-1 on a goal from Omar Uqdah, his first of the season, but it would not be enough to equalize for the rest of the way. Bobcats goalie Jarret Perino made 33 saves in the loss.
New Ulm 2 @ Alexandria 6 – The Blizzard got two goals and an assist from both Wyatt Johnson and Ashton Collings in a 6-2 win at home over the Steel. The game was tied at 2-2 early in the 2nd period with Collings and Ryan Hadland scoring for Alexandria and with Nicholas O’Brien and Gus Cantwell answering for the Steel. The Blizzard then rattled off four straight goals for the 6-2 win, which included two from Johnson, another from Collings and one from Justin Wasvick. Blizzard goalie Alex Lamont made 18 saves in the win, while Nolan Lacosse made 39 saves in the loss.
