Drillers and Blizzard win on Thursday
Louisiana 4 @ New Mexico 2 – Drillers forward Jack Lambert had two goals and an assist to led his team to a 4-2 win in New Mexico on Thursday. Louisiana opened up a 2-0 lead in the 1st period thanks to a power play goal from Daniel Crutcher and another goal from Lambert. After a scoreless 2nd period, the Drillers took a 3-0 lead early in the 3rd period with power play goal from Rory Neish. New Mexico mounted a comeback later in the 3rd period with power play goals from Jaden Stiller and Ryan Kerr, but an empty-net goal from Lambert secured the win. Drillers goalie John Moriarty made 25 saves in the win, while Krzysztof Jakubowski made 32 saves in the loss.
Alexandria 5 @ Minnesota 2 – Five different players scored for the Blizzard as they picked up a 5-2 road win in Breezy Point on Thursday night. Alexandria opened up a 2-0 lead with goals from Cole Klingbeil and Justin Wasvick. The Loons tried to make a game of it with both of their goals coming in the 2nd period as Josiah Lambers and Corbin Schiebel lit the lamp. However, the Blizzard got three more goals from Charlie Larsen, Justin Kingery, and Karsten Sended to secure the 5-2 win. Hunter Chubb made 30 saves in the win for the Blizzard, while Matthew Ryynanen made 41 saves in the loss.
