High seeds open Fraser Cup Playoffs with wins
East Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Norwich 0 @ Danbury 4 (Danbury leads series, 1-0) – Nick Rogers had a hat-trick and an assist and goalie Ryan Maguire stopped all 38 shots that came his way as the Jr. Hat Tricks opened up the 2023 Fraser Cup Playoffs with a 4-0 shutout of the Sea Captains. Rogers scored in the 1st period to give Danbury a 1-0 lead. In the 2nd period, goals from Reese Tamburo and Rogers made the score, 3-0. Rogers would then add a 3rd period goal to complete the win. Noriwch goalie Andrew Yocum made 30 saves in the loss.
South Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: New Mexico 0 @ TX RoadRunners 4 (RoadRunners lead series, 1-0) – RoadRunners goalie Hunter Hein stopped all 30 shots that came his way to lead his team to a 4-0 shutout in Game 1 of the South Division Semi-Finals. After a scoreless 1st period, the RoadRunners took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Eitan Geralnik and TJ Lipsky. In the 3rd period, two more goals from Gabe Stoner and Brandon Wicker secured the 4-0 win for Texas. Ice Wolves goalie Krzysztof Jakubowski made 33 saves in the loss.
Central Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Oregon 2 @ Milwaukee 1 (Oregon leads series, 1-0) – Tradesmen goalie Tyler Fromolz made 25 saves to lead his team to a 2-1 win in Game 1 of the Central Division Semi-Finals. Oregon scored first early in the 1st period on a goal from Marcus Mack. Milwaukee tied the game later in the 1st period thanks to a goal from Patrick Toomey. Oregon would regain the lead for good late in the 2nd period thanks to a power play goal from Carter Watters. Power goaltender Adam Prokop made 24 saves in the loss.
East Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Long Beach 3 @ Northeast 9 (Northeast leads series, 1-0) – Braeden Kennedy and Phil Feinberg each scored two goals and an assist and Davis Kinne had a four-point game as the Generals handled the Sharks in Game 1, 9-3. The Generals jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on goals from Caiden Hess, McCarthy Reed, and Matthew Nuzzolilo in the 1st period. Long Beach tried to make a game of it with goals from Gabe Hopkins and Nate Mastrony in the 2nd period, but the Generals countered with two goals from Kennedy and one from Feinberg to take a 6-2 lead after two periods. Northeast pulled away in the 3rd period with goals from Feinberg, John Dicio, Kinne. Zac Kretzschmer had the other goal for the Sharks. D’Mar McCoy made 21 saves in the win.
