Mason City forward Newpower makes NCAA commitment
The Mason City Toros of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Carter Newpower has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Saint Mary’s University.
Newpower, 21, just completed his third and final season playing for Mason City in the NA3HL.
The 6’2/181 lbs. native of Cottage Grove, MN, appeared in 45 regular season games during the 2022-23 season for the Toros and led the team in scoring with 69 points (21 goals, 48 assists).
Newpower was also selected to and played in the 2023 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the West Division team, where he recorded one goal in two games.
During the 2021-22 season, Newpower made the most of his second NA3HL season, as he became of the league’s dynamic offensive players, finishing 2nd in NA3HL scoring with 91 points, which included 37 goals and 54 assists. For his efforts he was named the NA3HL’s Most Valuable Player and Forward of the Year.
During the 2020-21 season, he posted 31 points in 35 games played.
For his NA3HL career, Newpower finishes with 191 points in 127 NA3HL games played, which ranks him 18th all-time in NA3HL scoring.
Newpower also appeared in four NAHL games with the North Iowa Bulls during his career.
