Former NA3HL coach Anderson lands head job in NAHL
Former NA3HL and Texas Brahmas head coach Ryan Anderson has been named the new head coach of the Amarillo Bulls in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
Anderson brings with him a wealth of experience and success from his time with the Lone Star and Texas Brahmas. As the head coach of the Fraser Cup Championship-winning team in the North American 3 Hockey League, Anderson exhibited a remarkable ability to develop young talent and lead his squad to 74 victories in only 87 games played, finishing at the top spot of the division for two consecutive seasons. His reputation as a coach dedicated to nurturing players and preparing them for higher levels of hockey speaks volumes about his commitment to excellence.
Anderson led the Texas Brahmas to the Fraser Cup title during the 2018-19 season. During the 2019-20 season, he was named the NA3HL Coach of the Year. Anderson guided the defending Fraser Cup Champion Texas Brahmas to the best record in the NA3HL during the 2019-20 regular season. Texas posted a 40-5-2 record during the season, which also included a 22-game point streak to end the season. Like their NAHL counterparts, the Lone Star Brahmas, the Texas Brahmas also boasted the best defense in the NA3HL, allowing just 81 goals in 47 games. The also saw over a dozen players skate or play with NAHL teams during the season.
"The process of recruiting a new head coach was approached with utmost seriousness," team owner and president Austin Sutter said. "Our criteria were strict, and Ryan emerged as the ideal candidate who checked all the necessary boxes. His record of championships as a head coach and successful tenure with the respected Lone Star Brahmas organization demonstrated his ability."
