Saturday Scores: Brahmas Stay Unbeaten

Long Beach 4 @ New Hampshire 3 (SO) - The Long Beach Sharks and New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings faced off in a thrilling matchup Saturday afternoon. The Sharks opened the scoring in the first period with Alec Dahlvang scoring off a pass from Jay Montgomery. The Mountain Kings tied it late in the period on a power-play goal by Jacob Landry, assisted by Gabriel Leclerc and Tommy Titone. Early in the second, Robert Johnson IV put the Sharks ahead, but the Mountain Kings responded in the third period with a power-play goal by Noah Levesque. The Sharks regained the lead with a power-play goal from JD DiTomasso, only for Tommy Titone to tie it once more for the Mountain Kings, sending the game into overtime. After a scoreless overtime, the shootout saw Sam O’Nell and Mason Jackson score for the Sharks, while New Hampshire was unable to beat Sharks goaltender Turner England, who made 42 saves. Mountain Kings goaltender Tristan Harris saved 21 out of 24 shots in the loss.

Rochester 5 @ St. Louis 1 - The Rochester Grizzlies secured a 5-1 win over the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Saturday night at Affton Ice Rink. After a scoreless first period, St. Louis opened the scoring early in the second with a goal from Kyle Settles. However, Rochester quickly answered back as Konnor Goclan netted his first NA3HL goal, assisted by Noah Joyce, just minutes later. The Grizzlies kept the momentum going, with Jaidy Van Mourik also scoring his first NA3HL goal off a setup from Andrew Lahaie, giving Rochester a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. In the third, the Grizzlies’ Andrew Lahaie extended the lead, scoring on a play set up by Van Mourik and Sammy Johnson. Rochester then capitalized on their power-play opportunities, with Noah Gillette firing home a goal off an assist from Josh Wolf, and Van Mourik notching his second of the night, assisted by Baylor Stebbins. The Grizzlies’ arose victorious over the Jr. Blues 5-1, while also achieving a weekend sweep after also winning Friday's game. 

Northeast 1 @ Binghamton 3 - The Binghamton Buzz were victorious during Saturday night’s game with a 3-1 win over the Northeast Generals. The Generals kicked off the scoring in the first period when Francisco Romano, with assists from Mason Fray and Bohdan Tuchyn, netted a goal to give Northeast the lead early on. Binghamton retaliated midway through the first as Joey Roselli tied the game off a setup from Griffin Gagnon and Bryce Yates. Early in the second period, Andrew Heath of the Buzz scored with assists again from Gagnon and Yates. The Buzz  put another point on the board in the third period when Ethan Miller found the back of the net off assists from Jason DiMatteo and Gagnon, making the final score read 3-1. 

Wausau 6 @ Peoria 1 - The Wausau Cyclones earned a victory on the road against the Peoria Mustangs Saturday night. Jake Garrow got the Cyclones rolling in the first period, capitalizing on a setup from Alec Mellon and Truman Zerse to put Wausau up 1-0. The second period saw the Cyclones extend their lead with goals from Chase Chapman and Mellon, who scored his first of two goals on the night. Mellon’s goal came off an assist from Zerse and Eiji Hoffman. In the third period, Garrow found the back of the net again, scoring his second of the night just a minute into the period. Mellon followed with another goal five minutes later, and Connor Dvorak capped the scoring spree with a quick goal less than a minute after Mellon’s. Peoria’s only goal came late in the game, as Johnny Switzer converted a power play opportunity, with assists from Andrew Johnson and Carter Bennewise. The Cyclones defeated the Mustangs with a final score of 6-1.

Norwich 4 @ New Jersey 3 - The Norwich Sea Captains earned a victory last night against the New Jersey Titans 4-3 in a tightly contested game on Friday night. The Sea Captains kicked off the scoring in the first period when Jake Wilkerson found the back of the net, assisted by Harrison Ranger and Tony Morran. The Titans quickly answered with two goals of their own. Josh Bain tied it up midway through the period, and minutes later, Nikita Suvorov gave New Jersey a 2-1 lead heading into the second. Norwich battled back in the second period, with Aidan Raedy scoring the lone goal to bring the game level at 2-2. In the third period, Norwich’s Glen Farmer gave the Sea Captains the lead with a goal early in the third, assisted by Quinten Olshan and Andrew Fischer. The Titans responded quickly as Fionn Thomann tied it up at 3-3 just a couple of minutes later. However, with under three minutes left in regulation, Gilkeson netted the game-winner for Norwich, with assists from Ryan Bernard and Raedy making the final score read 4-3 for the Sea Captains.

Texas B 7 @ Tulsa 3 - Chase Forry, Joseph Crowley and Nikolai Meshkantsov all had a goal and two assists as the Brahams kept their undefeated season going as they knocked off the Tulsa Jr. Oilers 7-3. Taste Lusk notched three assists while Henry Griffin and Kayden Jones each tallied a goal and an assist. Carter Kotrba and Ryan Spreyne also got on the scoresheet. Caden Vos led Tulsa with a goal and an assist. Henry Pinkerman and Nick Low also found the back of the net. Dillon Zimmerman earned the win in goal making 14 saves. Jack Slaverson was busy all night long, he finished with 54 saves.

Atlanta 4 @ Austin 5 (OT) - The Austin Ice Bats outplayed the Atlanta Capitals in a thrilling 5-4 overtime win on Friday night. Atlanta’s Daniel Ripstein kicked off the scoring with a pass from Alex Catalano. The Ice Bats responded just two minutes later with a power play goal of their own from Taras Korotchenko, assisted by Guhnar Hillman, tying the game at 1-1. In the second period, Catalano found the back of the net again, putting the Capitals ahead early on the power play, but Austin’s Thomas Forgrave responded midway through the period with a goal assisted by Hillman and Dakota Sullivan. Atlanta scored another power play goal before the period’s end, this time from Ben Reimer, assisted by Zane Hultquist. In the third period, Forgrave netted his second of the night, assisted by Troy Denchman, just four minutes in to tie the game. The Ice Bats took their first lead when Arys Perardi scored, assisted by Hillman, to make it 4-3. Atlanta forced overtime when Brad Camp capitalized on a power play tying the score before the end of the third. In overtime, it was Perardi again, finishing a pass from Forgrave, securing the Ice Bats’ 5-4 victory. Austin’s Bryson Frazee made 31 saves, while Atlanta’s Robert Pogosian saved 38 of 43 shots in the loss.

Mason City 5 @ Minnesota M 2 - Mason City hit the road on Saturday for a matchup with the Minnesota Moose. And their trip certainly proved fruitful. The Toros raced out to a three-goal lead in the first period. This includes a goal from Teis Larsen in the dying seconds of the opening frame. The Moose did show some fight as they scored two goals in the second. However, Mason City scored goals in the second and third periods to close out a 5-2 win.

Willmar 1 @ Alexandria 5 - Alexandria put eight goals on Wilmar in the last meeting between these teams. The Blizzard fell short of matching that on Saturday, but they still came away with an emphatic win. Alexandria took a 2-1 lead in the first period thanks to Mason Buchanan and Caleb Waller. They went on to score three more goals, including two in the second period, to skate away victorious. Alexandria forward Eli Fletcher led the way offensively with three assists, while goalie Kyle Abrahamson made 29 saves on the night.

Wisconsin 6 @ West Bend 2 - West Bend entered this Saturday night clash on a three-game winning streak. However, their winning ways came screeching to a halt against Wisconsin. The Woodmen raced out to a 5-0 lead early in the second period. West Bend added a couple of goals in the second and third. However, it was not enough to over come the Woodmen. The Power fell in front of their home fans on Saturday. Wisconsin forward Nolan Mix scored two goals in the second period while defenseman Tristen May-Robinson added three assists to the offensive effort.

Helena 3 @ Gillette 2 - It was a close matchup between Helena and Gillette on Saturday. Tai Kontrac opened the scoring for Gillette in the first period. And Ryan Kirkman doubled the lead for the Wild in the second period. However, Helena stormed back. Chase Berg and Elijah Elmer scored in the middle frame to tie the game heading into the intermission. The game remained in a deadlock until 12:40 in the third period. Elmer provided an assist on Cam Young’s third goal of the season to give Helena the lead. In the end, the Bighorns held out and skated away with a big comeback victory.

Badlands 4 @ Bozeman 0 - Bozeman entered this contest having won four consecutive games, some in rather convincing fashion. However, the Icedogs’ winning streak came to a convincing end on Saturday. Ole Svangstu scored within the first minute for the Sabres in the first period. His goal was the first of two in the opening frame. And the Sabres went on to add two more in the third to claim the win. Ethan Seanor and Patrick Gosselin provided two assists each in the win, while Ryan Jordan scored a goal and an assist.

Great Falls 2 @ Sheridan 4 - Great Falls fought from behind and made a game of things on Saturday. It simply was not enough to overcome Sheridan on the road. The Hawks opened the scoring in the first period, and entered the third with a 3-0 lead. The Americans mounted a come back as Blayne Jusczak and John Lang scored to cut the deficit to one. However, Josh Serino scored his second goal of the game to cement the win for Sheridan. Hawks rearguard Elijah White added two assists to help fuel his team to victory.

Yellowstone 5 @ Butte 9 - Fans were treated to quite an offensive display on Saturday between Yellowstone and Butte. These teams combined for nine goals in the very first period. The Irish took a 5-4 lead into the second period and were able to pull away beginning in the second period. Butte won 9-5 once the final horn sounded thanks to a hat trick from forward Easton Langemo. Additionally, defenseman Dylin Harildstad provided three assists in Saturday’s offensive showcase.
