Sunday Wrap Up: Ice Wolves Take Down Ice Bats

October 21, 2024

Norwich 4 @ Long Beach 2 - Three unanswered goals from the Norwich Sea Captains propelled them to a 4-2 win over the Long Beach Sharks. After Wyatt Strahan and Aidan Raedy traded goals in the opening period, Mason Jackson scored in the second to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead heading into the final period. Logan Niesen tied the game early in the third period and the game would stay that way until the final minute. Ryan Bernard scored his fourth of the season with just 58 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Sea Captains their first lead of the afternoon. Glen Farmer would add an empty net goal in the final seconds. Presley Patrin made 23 saves on 25 Long Beach shots while Turner England was saddled with the loss despite making 44 saves.

Austin 1 @ New Mexico 6 - A first period onslaught was enough to set the tone for the New Mexico Ice Wolves as they defeated the Austin Ice Bats 6-1. Brant Tiedeman scored twice and Callahan Butler added his first goal of the season as New Mexico got out to a 3-0 after 20 minutes. Edward Gregorin and Ethan Coleman added to the lead in the third period. Arys Perardi got Austin on the board late but it was countered by Makoto Sudoh’s to give the Ice Wolves a five goal margin of victory. Ryan Wallin was nearly perfect as he made 17 saves. Gavin Morris finished the evening stopping 29 of 35 shots.

Texas R 3 @ El Paso 4 (OT) - Derrick Pedersen netted the game winner in overtime as the El Paso Rhinos topped the Texas RoadRunners by a score of 4-3. Liam McCall and Jake Bamback got the Rhinos out a 2-0 lead early in the first period. Kyle Mackintosh and Skylar Bawcom tied things up before the first intermission. In the third, Bawcom gave Texas their first lead of the game before McCall netted his second of the night to even the game at three. That set up the overtime heroics as Pedersen’s second tally of the year gave the Rhinos the win. Nathan Graybill secured the win in goal as he made 21 saves while Jimmy Packer got the loss as he made 29 stops.
