Saturday Scores: Ice Wolves Finish Off Sweep of Brahmas

November 10, 2024

The Blizzard are one of the hottest teams in the league as they've won six in a row

Tulsa 1 @ Texas R 4 - Tulsa would look to find another win on consecutive days, but an early goal from Skylar Bawcom would find themselves being down early in this one. It would be in the second period when JT Brugaletta would double up the RoadRunners’ lead. Shortly after, Tyson Ward-Dicks would find the back of the net as well to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Sam Cardona would put the Jr. Oilers on the board later on in the second. Unfortunately this would be it for Tulsa, as Cutter Daniel would put this game on ice with his empty net goal. Jack Salverson had a phenomenal performance, making 26 saves despite the loss, Jimmy Packee would pick up the win with 25 saves.

Norwich 2 @ Long Beach 1 (OT) - This game would have very little scoring, just like the game on Friday. The game would see no scoring in not only the first period, but also the second period. During this, Turner England would stand on his head, stopping every shot and making over 50 saves in the process. It wouldn’t be until very late in the third period where JD DiTomasso would finally find the back of the net, giving the Sharks the lead late. Tony Morran would magically send this game into overtime, potting the equalizer with just 2.2 seconds left on the clock. The magic would carry into overtime as Jake Wilkerson would end this one early into OT. Lucas Vellequette would get the win with 20 saves, while England made over 60 saves in the OT loss.

Binghamton 4 @ Northeast 0 - In a matchup between two good teams in the NA3HL, it would take quite some time before someone found the back of the net. Joey Roselli would light the lamp early into the second period, giving the Buzz the lead. Later in the second, Binghamton would score two powerplay goals, from Carson Curry and Tyler Hamlin. Roselli would add another goal in the third, and that would be it, a complete 4-0 victory for the Buzz. Dalton Elliott would have a great shutout victory, making 34 saves in the process.

Granite City 5 @ Minnesota W 3 - Seth Terhell would get this party started for the Lumberjacks, lighting the lamp early into the contest. Simon Davidson would tie this one up in the later on in the first on the powerplay. Minutes later, Tyler Webb would give the Wilderness their first lead of the game. Brady Moore equalized this one in the opening minute of the second period, and Eli Tiernan would give the Lumberjacks back the lead halfway through the second. Rory Kronick would score and this game would be tied yet another time. It wouldn’t stay like this, as Parker Comstock and Patty Dunaiski would score two quick goals to give the Lumberjacks a 5-3 lead. Pierson Haislet would play well despite the loss, making 39 saves.

Louisiana 4 @ Austin 3 - Brody Neish would continue his amazing start to the season, scoring early into this matchup. Brendan Johnson added another goal to the Driller’s lead and Neish would add another goal to give Louisiana a 3-0 lead halfway into the first. Thomas Forgrave put the Ice Bats on the board late in the first and they would look to continue that momentum. The second period would have no scoring, but in the third, Taras Korotchenko would put his team within one. Arys Perardi scored minutes later to tie this game after the three goal deficit. Jake Bergstrom would be a party stopper, as his goal late in the third would be enough to give the Drillers the win. Cole Schmidt would pick up the win making 24 saves.

Mason City 4 @ Minnesota M 1 - Late in the first, Ayden Boyd would finally open the scoring in this one, allowing the Toros to take the lead. Andrew Winter would notch a goal to tie this one up early into the second frame. However in the third, Marcus Fritel would score a goal to give the Toros the lead. But he wouldn’t just stop there, as he would go on to score two more, giving himself a natural hat trick in the third period. Dylan Posch would make 36 saves in the loss, while Drew Blake picked up the win making 29 saves.

Alexandria 6 @ Willmar 2 - Wilmar would look to continue their momentum from Friday and a goal from Nathan Hinze late in the first would be just what they needed. John Dube would strike on the powerplay to level this game at one. Kaden Roness added another goal to give the Blizzard their first lead of the game. Gabriel Adams would respond with a power play goal of his own, once againing tying the contest. However a powerplay goal from Markus Olson and a late goal from Caleb Waller would give the Blizzard a two goal lead going into the third. Mason Buchanan scored Alexandria’s third power play goal of the game and Kaeden Krieg added an insurance marker to end the game. Kyle Abrahamson would play a complete game and would stop 29 of 31 shots.

Rochester 3 @ Wisconsin 7 - Rochester had more than their fair share of opportunities to score in this contest. However, they went just 1/10 on the power play as they fell Saturday to Wisconsin on the road. Hugh Deinema scored twice for the Woodsmen while Tristen May-Robinson provided three assists to help lead the way offensively.

Texas 3 @ New Mexico 4 (OT) - Fans in attendance witnessed an exciting game between Texas and New Mexico. The teams combined for four goals in the third period as the Ice Wolves claimed victory in overtime. New Mexico forced overtime thanks to Dante Hunziker, who scored twice in the final frame. The game winner came off the stick of Koen Burkholder, who has four goals on the season.

St. Louis 2 @ West Bend 5 - The West Bend Power took some time to get going in the first period. But as time went on, they found their stride. The Power went into the locker room with a 3-1 lead over the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Saturday. And they eventually skated away with a 5-2 victory. Jackson Hoem earned First Star honors with a goal and two assists. Meanwhile, Tyler Kowalchuk provided a goal and assist to help his team to victory.

El Paso 3 @ Atlanta 4 - El Paso had their chances to claim victory against the Atlanta Capitals on the road. However, they could not get those two decisive goals. The Rhinos went 1-for-8 with the man advantage as Atlanta held on to a 4-3 scoreline. Aiden Meredith provided two assists while goalie Jackson Black stopped 45 shots to ward off El Paso’s comeback efforts.

Great Falls 3 @ Gillette 4 (OT) - Great Falls and Gillette played a hard fought game on Saturday as they each hoped to secure a big win. Gillette turned in a big second period performance, scoring all three of their regulations goals in the middle frame. However, the Americans stormed back to force overtime. The Wild skated away with the win, however, as Tai Kontrac’s second goal lifted Gillette over Great Falls in the extra frame.

Sheridan 1 @ Bozeman 4 - The Hawks had a solid first period performance, outshooting Bozeman 13-8. However, the IceDogs entered the period with a 2-1 lead. Sheridan had a much worse second period as they managed just four shots on goal. Bozeman scored two more goals to secure a 4-1 win on home ice. IceDogs goaltender Isaac Weatherford turned in a big performance, turning aside 29 of the 30 shots on goal he faced on Saturday night.

Badlands 5 @ Butte 2 - Badlands established their dominance early in this game and did not look back. In fact, the Sabres managed 20+ in each of the first two periods. By the end of the night, they completed a 5-2 win over the Irish away from home. The star of the show was Zach Vockler, who scored a hat trick for Badlands on Saturday. He is now up to 16 goals on the season.
