Sunday Wrap Up: Drillers Keep On Winning

Texas B 9 @ Atlanta 0 - The Texas Brahmas claimed a win over the Atlanta Capitals Sunday evening to claim a 3 game weekend sweep. The Brahmas opened the scoring in the first period with Carter Kotrba (2) and Cael Freeling scoring a combined 3 goals. The Brahams were particularly dominant in the second period scoring 5 goals with Nikolai Meshkantsov (2), Jake Malzone, Tayte Lusk, and Joseph Crowley all scoring goals. In the third period, the Brahams’ Robert Eloe found the back of the net for the final goal of the night. The final score of the game was 9-0 Texas. The Brahmas goaltender Connor Broderick saved all 29 shots he faced Sunday giving him his third shutout of the weekend.
Tulsa 2 @ New Mexico 9 - The New Mexico Ice Wolves earned a victory at home against the Tulsa Jr. Oilers. New Mexico came out firing in the first period, with Ethan Coleman, Edward Gregorin, and Connor Hanley all finding the back of the net to start the game off with a 3-0 lead. Miles Clark got Tulsa on the board early in the second, but the Ice Wolves answered with goals from Dantae Hunziker, Evan Scholl, and Jacob Kahle to extend their lead to 6-1. Tanner Conant added one more for Tulsa in the second, but New Mexico closed out the game with three more goals in the third from Carson Goteleare, Issa Murakami, and Ethan Niles. Tulsa’s goaltenders saved a combined 51 out of 60 shots, while New Mexico’s Ryan Wallin saved 10 out of the 12 shots he faced.
Northeast 3 @ New Jersey 2 - The Northeast Generals faced off against the New Jersey Titans in a close matchup on Sunday evening. The Generals opened the scoring in the first period with a goal scored by Dylan Rakes. The Titans took the lead in the second period with Mateo Ruffolo finding the back of the net early on and later with Vladimir Zakharov netting a goal on a power play. In the third period, Liam Schaentzler scored two back to back goals to help secure the Generals’ 3-2 victory of the Titans.
Texas R 1 @ Louisiana 2 (OT) - The Texas Roadrunners and Louisiana Drillers faced off in a nail biting matchup on Sunday. The Drillers started off the scoring in the first period with Max Workman finding the back of the net. The Roadrunners tied the game early on in the second period with Skylar Bawcom capitalizing on a power play. The third period was scoreless forcing the tied game into overtime. Louisiana’s Roman Vitolo proved to be the difference maker, netting the overtime goal to secure the win for the Drillers. The Roadrunners’ goaltender Jim Packee saved 36 out of the 38 shots he faced in the loss, while the Driller’s netminder Finn Wilson made 25 saves out of 26 total shots.
