Saturday Scores: West Bend Powers Through in Shootout

Drew Garipay (top) and Josh Wolf (bottom) netted the game winners in the shootout to lift their respective clubs to victory

Rochester 3 @ Wausau 2 (SO) - Josh Wolf’s goal in the fifth round of the shootout was the difference as the Grizzlies topped the Cyclones 3-2. John Kriz opened the scoring with his 12th of the season for Wausau. Noah Joyce would tie the game in the following period with his ninth of the campaign. In the third, Brandon Piwko and Andrew Bastain would trade goals to set up the overtime period. Wolf’s goal in the shootout and Andrew Dubin four stops led to Rochester getting the extra point. Dubin had 26 saves in the win while Tanner Bonjernoor stopped 21 shots in the loss.

Peoria 0 @ Wisconsin 8 - Hugh Deinema and Patrick Bowser each had a hat trick for the Woodsmen as they dominated the Peoria Mustangs 8-0. Justin Funk had a goal and an assist while Nathan Novak also found the back of the net for Wisconsin. Tristen May-Robinson had three helpers and Pierson Zittel also had multiple assists in the win. Lleyton Jaschke stopped all 29 shots he faced to earn the shutout while Filip Kaczmarczyk and Albert Ancient teamed up to make 32 saves.

St. Louis 3 @ West Bend 4 (SO) - Drew Garipay had the game winning goal in the shootout as the West Bend Power edged the St. Louis Jr. Blues 4-3. After Braydon Davis opened the scoring for St. Louis, Jackson Hoem and Danny Jurcich scored within 90 seconds of each other to give West Bend their first lead of the night. Mitchell Nappier would even the score at two heading into the second intermission. Jace Fitzgerald put West Bend back in front with his eighth of the year but Mason Andrew responded with just under four minutes left in regulation to force overtime. After a scoreless overtime, the Power took the shootout 2-1. Adam Prokop was the winner in the blue paint with 21 saves. Alexander Rivolta was sensational, stopping 53 shots in 65 minutes of action.
