Sunday Wrap-Up: Ice Wolves, Power Clinch Playoff Berths
West Bend 6 @ St. Louis 3 - The West Bend Power are back into the postseason after doubling up the St. Louis Jr. Blues 6-3 on Sunday. Teagan Scheurer, Trace Shumlas and Evan Burchardt all scored in the first 11 minutes to put West Bend up 3-0 early. Mason Andrew and Michael Soell scored two goals in just over a minute to bring St. Louis back within one but Brayden Graning’s goal in the final seconds of the period made it a 4-2 game after 20 minutes. Soell scored the only goal of the second period making it a 4-3 game but an insurance goal by Graning and another marker from Jackson Hoem put the game out of reach. Ben Glaesman stopped 27 shots to earn the win in net while Oscar Pupillo and Alexander Rivolta combined to make 38 saves for St. Louis.
Alexandria 7 @ Minnesota M 3 - A three point night from Caleb Waller paced the Alexandria Blizzard to a 7-3 win over the Minnesota Moose. John Dube had two goals of his own while Eli Fletcher and Jackson Miller each had a goal and an assist. Connor Zgoda also got on the scoresheet for Alexandria. Easton Simpson, Kaden Miles and Sam Knight netted goals for the Moose in the loss. Kyle Abrahamson stopped 39 shots to earn the win in between the pipes. Dylan Posch and Bennet Reinhard made 38 saves together for the Moose.
New Mexico 8 @ Tulsa 1 - Kyle Mackintosh registered a hat trick as the New Mexico Ice Wolves punched their ticket to the Fraser Cup playoffs with a 8-1 victory over the Tulsa Jr. Oilers. Brant Tiedeman had two goals and an assist for New Mexico while Will Lazar, Liam Mooney and Evan Scholl all lit the lamp as well. Henry Pinkerman had the only goal for Tulsa. Ryan Wallin was the winner in goal with 22 saves. Anderson Weimer was busy all night long as he finished the afternoon with 50 stops.
Maine 5 @ New Jersey 0 - Carter Walls scored twice and Riley Burnett stopped all 23 shots he faced as the Maine Nordiques blanked the New Jersey Titans 5-0. Kael Bilk, Connor Morissette and Genrikh Rozhokv all found the back of the net for Maine. Manny Pantow finished the game with 39 saves for the Titans.
Louisiana 11 @ El Paso 1 - Skylar Bawcom, Brody Neish and Dayton Ruppel all had two goals and two assists as the Drillers pounded the Rhinos by a score of 11-1. Jake Bergstrom, Max Workman, Alexander Thomas and Cameron McEwan each had a goal and an assist for the Drillers. Derek Johnson chipped in a goal while Johnathon Berndt tallied four helpers. Kacper Gach provided the offense for El Paso. Cole Schmidt was nearly perfect with 16 saves while Nathan Graybill stopped 44 shots.
