WarHawks forward Irion makes ACHA Commitment

The Willmar WarHawks of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that forward Zane Irion has committed to play ACHA DI hockey for Lawrence Tech.  

Irion, 20, 5’10” / 165lb winger from Rio Rancho, NM is finishing his 2nd season with the Willmar WarHawks. He has played 42 games so far this season with 14 goals / 19 assists tallying 33 points. He currently has 56 points, 21 goals and 35 assists over 82 games played in his NA3HL career. Irion was also drafted by the Minot Minotauros of the NAHL and began the 2024-25 season with the Tier 2 squad. 

“My experience at Willmar was the best 2 years of my life. I learned so much coming into my first years of juniors under coach Payton Ruter. It doesn’t come easy leaving home and I want to say thank you to our billet coordinator Julia Orth and my billet mom Margaret Johnson for making it super easy. Their support is unmatched and I’m very grateful for that. Every billet parent and player’s parents made an impact on my life when it was just a simple talk after a game or having a team dinner at their house. Every small gesture never went unnoticed. Playing at Willmar, you’ll understand very quickly how close of a family this program is. I would also like to thank the fans and community for supporting everything we do; whether it’s buying auctioned team jerseys for non profits or going to home games. It makes playing junior hockey worth it,” said Irion about his time here with the WarHawks.

“Extremely excited for Zane and his commitment to play college hockey,” Head Coach and GM Payton Ruter said. “Zaner is the type of player that pushes the pace. Whether it’s in a game or practice, he is giving it his all.”

The WarHawks congratulate Zane on his college commitment to Lawrence Technological University and wish him all the best as his hockey career continues to move forward.
