NA3HL Announces New Team in Monroe, LA

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced that its Board of Governors has approved the membership of the Bayou State Rougarou, with the team set to begin play in the 2025-26 season.
"We are thrilled to be joining the NA3HL and to continue to grow hockey in Monroe, Louisiana. This is an exciting chapter for our organization, and we’re committed to building a competitive team that our fans can be proud of. The NA3HL provides a fantastic platform for player development, and we look forward to contributing to the league’s growth while delivering fast-paced, high-energy hockey to our community,” exclaimed Rougarou Owner Brad Allen.
The Monroe Civic Center will be the home rink for the Rougarou, providing a versatile venue for the team. Located in Monroe, Louisiana, the ninth largest city in the state, the arena can seat around 6,000 spectators. Monroe is known for its rich cultural history and as a hub for business and entertainment in Northeast Louisiana.
“We are excited to continue expanding the Southeast footprint by adding another team in Louisiana with the Rougarou,” stated NA3HL Director, Tyler Giwerowski. “This is an exciting advancement in our mission to create more opportunities for players to develop and progress in the sport. The addition of a team in Monroe further strengthens the growing hockey presence in Louisiana and provides aspiring players with a crucial pathway to the NAHL and college hockey.”
The NA3HL is the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior league and serves as one of the top training grounds in the country by providing the best coaching, exposure and developmental vehicles available for student-athletes. The NA3HL advances more players to the NAHL, NCAA and ACHA than any other junior league of its kind.
USA Hockey has been properly notified and formal approval is expected at their annual meeting in June.
