Blizzard goaltender Abrahamson makes NCAA Commitment

The Alexandria Blizzard of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that goaltender Kyle Abrahamson has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Saint John's University. 

Abrahamson, 21, suited up for 52 games over two seasons with the Alexandria Blizzard, compiling an impressive overall record of 29-18-2-2, including three shutouts. The Esko, MN native finished his time in Alexandria with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage.

Among his standout performances was a 20-save shutout against the Minnesota Wilderness. Another highlight came on December 13th in a dramatic 2-1 overtime win against the Granite City Lumberjacks. In that game, the ‘04 netminder turned aside 32 of 33 shots, finishing the night with a .970 save percentage.

Abrahamson carried that strong play into the postseason, where he anchored the Blizzard in a hard-fought first-round Fraser Cup Playoff series against the Minnesota Moose. Despite the team falling short, he allowed only three goals across three games. His most remarkable playoff performance came in Game 1, where he stopped all 35 shots he faced to secure a 1-0 shutout victory.

“Kyle was the backbone of our team night in and night out. He gave us a chance to win every game with his poise, consistency, and compete level in the crease. As a coach, you couldn’t ask for a more dependable presence in net,” stated Blizzard Head Coach Jeff Crouse. “Watching his growth on and off the ice has been incredible, and it’s truly special to see him earn the opportunity to continue his career at the NCAA Division III level with Saint John's University.”

Abrahamson is one of two players from the Blizzard to make a college commitment this season.
