Bighorns defenseman Coulombe makes college commitment

The Helena Bighorns of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Hunter Coulombe has committed to play college hockey for the University of New Mexico.
Coulombe, 21, is headed back to his home state of New Mexico to suit up for the Lobos this fall.
The Tijeras native spent the past two seasons with the Helena Bighorns in Montana, where he played in 80 games and totaled 46 points from the blue line, netting 14 goals and adding 32 assists.
During the 2024-25 season, Coulombe delivered three standout performances, each featuring a two-goal game. One of his most memorable outings came on February 22, when he tallied two goals and an assist in a key win over the Bozeman IceDogs.
His strong presence on Helena’s defense earned him a selection to the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament, highlighting his impact throughout the season.
Before joining the junior ranks, Coulombe developed through the NAPHL system, spending four seasons with the Colorado Springs Tigers. He played in 88 games across the 15U, 16U, and 18U levels.
Coulombe is the second player from the Bighorns to make a college commitment this season.
