Ice Wolves defenseman Berndt makes college commitment

The New Mexico Ice Wolves of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Dre Berndt has committed to play college hockey for Augustana University.
Berndt, 20, spent two seasons in the NA3HL, skating with the Rochester Grizzlies and, more recently, the New Mexico Ice Wolves. The Pierre, SD native played the 2023–24 season with the Grizzlies and remained with the team for most of the following year before being acquired by the Ice Wolves at the trade deadline. Over the course of 89 league games, Berndt recorded 24 points (2 goals, 22 assists).
His only goal of the 2024–25 season came while still with Rochester, during a 5–2 win over the Wisconsin Woodsmen. In that matchup, Berndt played a pivotal role, netting the game-tying goal midway through the second period, a momentum-shifting moment that helped propel the Grizzlies to victory.
During his final 15 games of the season with New Mexico, the 6'3" defenseman added to his point total, recording six assists, including two crucial helpers during the Fraser Cup Playoffs.
He is one of four players from the Ice Wolves to make a college commitment this season.
