Bighorns Assistant Captain Theriault makes NCAA Commitment

he Helena Bighorns of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that Assistant Captain Finn Theriault has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Nazareth University.

Theriault, 20, is set to head east to New York after spending both seasons of his junior hockey career with the Bighorns. During his time in Helena, he suited up for 106 games and played a key role in helping the team capture the 2024 Fraser Cup Championship. A consistent offensive force, Theriault averaged a point per game over his career, totaling 106 points (58 goals, 48 assists).

Following an impressive rookie campaign, the Breckenridge, CO native continued to elevate his game in 2024-25, once again establishing himself as a dominant scoring threat. He recorded multi-point efforts in 19 games that season, including a stretch of seven consecutive games. One standout performance came against the Badlands Sabres, where Theriault notched two goals and an assist during a 5-2 victory.

Recognized for both his contributions on the ice and his leadership off it, Theriault was selected to represent Team Blue at the 2025 Top Prospects Tournament in Plymouth, MI. As he takes the next step in his hockey journey, the Bighorns organization proudly congratulates the future Golden Flyer on his accomplishments and wishes him continued success.

“Finn Theriault will be deeply missed, not only as a highly talented hockey player who elevated his game during the 2024–25 season, but also as a respected presence in the Helena community. On the ice, Finn consistently delivered, and off the ice, he served as a role model in the locker room and a fan favorite among our supporters,” stated Bighorns’ Head Coach Damon Hanson. “Over the past two seasons, he’s made a lasting impact both within our organization and throughout the community. We wish Finn nothing but the best as he begins the next chapter of his life."

Theriault is one of six players from the Bighorns to make a college commitment this season.
