Sea Captains forward Gilkeson makes NCAA Commitment

The Norwich Sea Captains of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that forward Connor Gilkeson has committed to play NCAA DII hockey for Franklin Pierce University.
Gilkeson, 21, spent two seasons with the Sea Captains, appearing in 83 career games. The Roanoke, VA native totaled 20 points (8 goals, 12 assists) during his time in Connecticut.
A highlight from his 2024-25 season came on January 31st, when the Sea Captains defeated the Long Beach Sharks 5-1. Gilkeson opened the scoring shorthanded and added an assist for a two-point performance.
Now, Gilkeson is staying in New England as he takes the next step in his hockey journey, suiting up for Franklin Pierce University. Head Coach Kevin Cunningham shared his excitement about Gilkeson’s commitment and bright future at the collegiate level:
“Connor’s commitment to Franklin Pierce is one that I am absolutely thrilled about! Connor is a tremendous example of buying into the process and doing the required work, on and off the ice, to advance to college hockey. He is a skilled, smart, reliable player that his teammates and coaches can trust in any situation. His speed and tenacity on the forecheck and penalty kill are attributes that make him extremely hard to play against. I am also very pleased that Connor will be able to pursue his academic interests at Franklin Pierce in a way that not every school could offer him. In short, this is a commitment that checks all the boxes!”
He is one of 10 players from the Sea Captains to make a college commitment this season.
