Sea Captains Captain Morran makes NCAA Commitment

The Norwich Sea Captains of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that forward Tony Morran has committed to play NCAA DIII hockey for Western Connecticut State University.
Morran, 21, has been a steady presence for the Sea Captains since day one, spending all four seasons of his junior career in Norwich under Head Coach Kevin Cunningham. A familiar face in the community and a constant on the back end, the ’04 defenseman etched his name in the record books by becoming the organization’s all-time leader in games played with 161, posting 55 points (14 goals, 41 assists) along the way.
This past season, his final year in the NA3HL, Morran turned in his best campaign yet with a career-high 22 points. He found his stride late in the year, stringing together a five-game point streak beginning in late January, where he chipped in 2 goals and 3 assists while helping fuel the Sea Captains’ playoff push. That run included a clutch tally in a nail-biting 3-2 win over the Maine Nordiques, and he finished the stretch with an impressive +5 rating.
Capping off his junior career, Morran earned the opportunity to skate in the 2025 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, where he represented the Sea Captains on one of the league’s biggest stages.
When asked about his commitment, Coach Cunningham said the following:
“Tony Morran has been an integral member of the Norwich Sea Captains since our inception. He helped anchor our defensive corps for four seasons and was a vital part of our program’s growth. I am beyond thrilled to see him earn a chance to play collegiate hockey at Western Connecticut State University while continuing his studies. Tony brings an exciting skill set, a commitment to excellence and a strong competitive nature to the Wolves hockey program. I cannot wait to see his future successes at the next level!”
He is one of 10 players from the Sea Captains to make a college commitment this season.
