Norwich Sea Captains 4 @ Long Beach Sharks 3 (OT) - The Norwich Sea Captains laid down a hammer on the Long Beach Sharks this afternoon, as the Captains had a blazing third-period run to force an overtime steal. At first, the Sharks had a good handle on the visiting club. However, late into the third, they would lose their edge and ultimately drop their lead. The scoring would not commence until the second, when Jake Wilkerson for the Captains opened the scoring from assists by Matthew Pavlik and Jack Stephen. Then later in the middle frame, the Sharks put something on the board to tie the score at one, and broke it a minute later. James Steinberg tied the score from a feed by Jace Tourtillot, and Eli McCarthy would get the go-ahead goal from Sean Bailey's feed. For the third, Bailey would grab a goal for himself just 44 seconds in. Later on, Wilkerson would find a way to punch one past Will Zinnen and put his crew within one. And they wasted no time to tie it up either, as two minutes after, Stephen would saucer to Logan Nieson for him to tie it up at three. With 15 minutes to work with on the clock, neither team found a way to put one in the net, so the game went into overtime. Overtime, however, was very short, as the Sea Captains called it a game just 37 seconds in when Wilkerson found a lane for Trenton Impens to seal the deal.
New Jersey Titans 2 @ Buzz 8 - In another early afternoon showdown at LeCom Events Center, the Buzz and New Jersey had themselves a rematch on Wednesday. During Tuesday's slate, the Buzz won 6-5 in overtime. Today’s contest told the same winning story for the Buzz, but with just more scoring. The Titans went on the board first in the opening 18 seconds of play, when Ivan Korshikov opened the scoring. Then, minutes later, Magnus Deamond tied it while also being unassisted. But a minute later, the Titans responded by breaking the tie with Korshikov grabbing his second of the afternoon and the go-ahead lead. However, after that and for the rest of the game, the Buzz took it from there and would score seven unanswered, with four of those being from the power play. Seamus Bihari would light the lamp up on the power play, and then two minutes later, Deamond picked up another while also on the power play to take the lead. For the second period, Andrew Jazwin would be the only one to rack up a point in the frame, as he made it 4-2 with no help. But fear not with the scoring, as the Buzz cast an inferno on the Titans with four more goals before calling it quits. Tannan Nenninger started things off in the third, as he was set up by Yaromir Chicherin and Ilya Baldin on the man advantage. And grab your hats and chuck them on the ice, because Deamond would net a natural hat trick while on another power play opportunity at the 10-minute mark. Then exactly two minutes after that, Mantas Lisauskas made it 6-2 from the notable playmaking pair of Nenninger and Baldin. And to cap it all off, Chicherin finished the game by sealing the deal from another assist by Nenninger. The Buzz outshot New Jersey 49-14 and were effective on the power play in five out of their eight opportunities.
