The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) is pleased to announce the Divisional Stars of the Week for the week ending November 30th, sponsored by Bethel University. This weekly award recognizes the top-performing players from each of the league’s six divisions, as nominated by their head coaches, for their outstanding contributions on the ice.
Please note that the East and Southeast Divisions did not play this past week.
Central Division Star of the Week: Jackson Schroeder, Forward, Wausau Cyclones
The Wausau Cyclones split their weekend matchup with the St. Louis Jr. Blues in an intense Central Division showdown, and once again, rookie standout Jackson Schroeder made his presence felt. The Cyclones’ leading scorer picked up league honors for the second time this season after another dominant performance.
In Friday’s 5–1 win, the ’07 forward set the tone early by opening the scoring and giving Wausau a 1–0 lead. He continued to drive the offense with a power-play assist on the team’s third goal and added another helper before the night was over, finishing three points on the night.
Saturday’s 4–2 loss did little to slow his momentum, as Schroeder tallied both Wausau goals and remained their most consistent offensive threat. His five-point weekend extends his point streak to seven games, all multi-point outings, as he climbs to 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) in just 17 games played.
Head Coach Nathan Oystrick pointed to Schroeder’s development as a key part of his impact stating: “Jackson continues to score big goals and put up great offensive numbers. He is consistently making the right adjustments and learning the Junior game, which is allowing him to have success.”
2nd Star: Aaron Sibert, G, St. Louis Jr. Blues
3rd Star: Michael Maillette , F, West Bend Power
Frontier Division Star of the Week: Kyyan Jahner, Forward, Badlands Sabres
The Badlands Sabres put together a dominant weekend on home ice, completing a two game sweep of the Yellowstone Quake. Veteran forward Kyyan Jahner delivered his strongest performance of the season, playing a major role in securing all four points in the standings.
In Friday’s 7–2 win, Jahner was a force all over the ice, finishing as one of three Sabres to post a three-point performance. He set up the game-tying goal early in the first period, then buried the team’s third goal with under two minutes left in the frame. Rounding out his three-point night, he scored shorthanded to push the lead to 5–2.
Continuing his hot streak in Sunday’s 5–1 victory, Jahner netted the team’s first goal on the power play.
On Kyyan’s role in the team’s success, Head Coach Brooks Mitzel shared: “Kyyan was a huge factor in our success this weekend. This is his third season with us, and he has really emerged as a leader in our locker room. He brings a lot of energy to our team and helps set the tone every single day. It was great to see him get rewarded this weekend, as he is always putting in the work to develop and get better. Kyyan is a crucial piece to our lineup and will continue to bring the energy we need to get to where we want to be.”
2nd Star: Loghan Weber, F, Butte Irish
3rd Star: Gordon Jennings, D, Great Falls Americans
South Division Star of the Week: Carter Lehmann, Forward, El Paso Rhinos
Carter Lehmann and the El Paso Rhinos had a busy and successful week, winning four of five games. After dropping their opener, the Rhinos turned things around, stringing together four straight wins, including a win over New Mexico followed by a three-game sweep of the West Texas Wranglers.
This stretch marked Lehmann’s strongest run of the season, as the Kalamazoo, MI native recorded points in every game. After posting one goal and three assists against the Ice Wolves, he stayed red-hot, finding the back of the net in all three games against West Texas.
In game one, Lehmann was the hero, assisting on the team’s second goal shorthanded before scoring the overtime winner, his first game-winning goal of the season, helping El Paso to a 3–2 victory. Lehmann continued his strong play in game two, adding another goal and assist, with his goal coming on the power play as the Rhinos took a 4–2 win.
He closed out the week on Sunday with a dominant 7–1 win, recording his first hat trick of the season. Two of the three goals came on special teams, one powerplay goal and one shorthanded, and he added a power-play assist for a total of four points on the day, leading the Rhinos’ dominant performance.
Head Coach Alec Sherman highlighted how Lehmann sets the tone for his teammates on and off the ice stating: “Carter shows up day after day preparing for the weekend ahead. He leads by example on and off the ice pushing himself and his teammates. We just finished up 7 games in 10 days and we were very impressed by the amount of minutes he logged without losing a step. He’s been a leader who we can lean on to get us the next goal or defend to protect a lead. He’s a great example of a true Rhino.”
2nd Star: Taylor Lewis, F, Texas Brahmas
3rd Star: Carter Tuplin, F, El Paso Rhinos
West Division Star of the Week: Tyler Starich, Forward, Minnesota Wilderness
Tyler Starich and the Minnesota Wilderness split their series with the Mason City Toros, a big weekend showing against a tough West Division opponent. After spending last season with the Wilderness, Starich returned to the team and played his first full weekend back, immediately proving to be a key contributor moving forward.
Despite a 6–3 setback on Friday, the ’06 forward picked up two points, assisting on the team’s second goal before scoring the third with under a minute remaining in the second period.
Game two saw the Wilderness bounce back with a 5–2 road victory, and Starich was the standout. He opened the scoring early, then added the only goal of the second period on the power play, which would eventually serve as the game winner. He capped off the night with an assist on the team’s fourth goal, bringing his total to five points over the past three games.
On Starich’s return and standout weekend, Head Coach Chris Ratzloff exclaimed: “Since coming back to the team, Tyler has made an immediate impact. His energy lifts everyone around him, and his offensive ability was on full display this weekend. He earned recognition for his hard work, leadership, and knack for finding the back of the net.”
