Sunday Wrap-up: Bayou State Picks Up Big Win on the Road

Wausau 5 @ St. Louis 2 - The Wausau Cyclones looked to split their road series against the St. Louis Jr. Blues on Sunday at the Afton Ice Rink. The first period delivered high energy from both sides as they battled for the opening goal. Wausau struck first when Eiji Hofmann buried a shot off assists from Joel Anderson and Jackson Schroeder. St. Louis responded quickly, with Jace Jordan tying the game off a setup from Jack Reuss. The Cyclones reclaimed the lead before the period expired when Anderson scored his own goal, assisted by Brady Knutsen and Hofmann, giving Wausau a 2–1 advantage after one. Wausau carried that momentum into the second period. Owen Gohm extended the lead midway through the frame, finishing a play assisted by Jackson Maddock and Maksim Salienko to make it 3–1. The Jr. Blues pushed back, and Stephen Craig cut the deficit to one off a feed from Lonnie Land, sending the game into the third period with Wausau leading 3–2. The Cyclones came out firing in the final 20 minutes. Sean Hall scored less than a minute into the period, assisted by Frank Goodman, stretching the lead to 4–2. Hofmann capped off the night with an empty-netter in the final seconds, securing a 5–2 victory for Wausau. Jr. Blues goaltender Aaron Sibert turned aside 32 shots in the loss, while Cyclones goalie Brady Faille earned the win with a strong, 31-save performance.
Tulsa 1 @ Austin 16 - The Austin Ice Bats absolutely shredded the Tulsa Oilers to cap off the weekend, scoring 16 times and rendering 115 shots on net. Quickly into the first, Jake Bamback opened the scoring. Ten minutes later, the Oilers got on the board to tie the score, but shortly after, that would be the last time they would. Guhnar Hillman capitalized on the power play to break the tie. A minute later, Matthieu Leblanc extended the lead after being set up by Ethan Salter. Then at the two-minute mark, Liam Cardona net in a PP goal, as Aiden Deluna and Mason Manderfield carried the assists. For the middle frame, the club would pop in three consecutive PP goals. Cardona opened it up when Arys Perardi found him a lane; Deluna would grab another when Cardona saucered him; and then Perardi would get himself a goal to his point collection. Likewise, they continued to score even off the PP runs. Perardi set up Hillman to bury one at 8:00. Then while short-handed, Garret Morris would secure a shorty with Bamback racking up his fourth point. And seven seconds before the buzzer, Bamback would tuck one in and grab yet another point to his tally. For the third, Bamback kept the heater going and scored two more goals; both of them were just 28 seconds apart. Then at the ten-minute point, Nash Byrant would score a beauty on the power play and record his first goal of the season, after Hillman and Sol Levy cycled it. Shortly after the club got another one on yet another PP run, as Deluna was responsible for making it successful. Then at 2:41, Manderfield would go on the jailbreak and get himself a shorty. And to close it all out, Deluna picked up a natural hat-trick after his linemate Perardi also collected a hat-trick of assists.
Bayou State 9 @ Carolina 5 -The Bayou State Rougarou sought their revenge against the Carolina Rage in Greenville during Sunday's slate, as they defeated them 9-5. During Saturday's matchup, the Rage took down the Rougarou 8-5. In Sunday's game, however, the Rage absolutely dominated the o-zone, hammering 71 shots on netminder Jared Lang. For the first period, the Rougarou lit the lamp up four times and opened the scoring. Peyton Essex opened the score, as he was sauced by Denis Portnoy. Three minutes later, they got on the board again, as Portnoy was setup by Ethan Tierman on the power play. Then a minute after, Tierman would net his own to make it three-nothing. But over a minute later, the Rage finally got on the board when Layden Anderson put in a beauty. A couple of minutes later, the team scored again but this time while short-handed, as Reece Beckwith delivered the ‘shorty. Four minutes before the first buzzer, Tierman would net his second of the afternoon to extend the lead going into the second. Opening up the middle frame, the Rage opened the scoring, as Travis Anderson sniped one in. Then a minute later, Tierman would punch in his hat-trick to respond. Afterwards, Ethan Walters for the Rage responded himself to put them within one. But then a minute later, Essex opened a lane for Dennis Portnoy to bury one and give them a two-goal lead. A minute before the buzzer and the Rage got on the board from the PP, as Travis Anderson got it done with help from Layden Anderson. However, with 14 seconds left in the middle frame, the Rougarou responded once more, as Portnoy got another. Three minutes into the third and Portnoy would get his own hat-trick, after being set up by Tierman. Then several minutes after, with two minutes to play, Essex would send the puck deep to get the empty netter and seal the deal for Bayou State.
Pelham 5 @ Atlanta 9 - The Atlanta Capitals picked up a big win at home versus the Prowlers. In the first, Pelham got on the board first when Marlon Derksen hammered one in, as Matthew Hunter got the assist. Two minutes after, though, the Capitals responded and tied the score, as Maddox Woulfin got it done with help by Jaylen Fluhr. Then moments later Fluhr would score his own goal to rid away the tie, as Woulfin was the one to assist. However, minutes later the Prowlers would bounce back and tie the game up, as Andrew Robles capitalized on the power play. But then with 15 seconds before the buzzer, the Capitals broke the tie again, when Fluhr grabbed another. For the second, both teams traded off power play goals consecutively. Tristin Scheufelle for the Capitals opened the scoring, and then Parker McCowin responded. Then moments later, the Prowlers returned and tied the game up again, when McCowin set up Bryce Croyle. But not even 20 seconds later, the Capitals responded and got the go-ahead again, as Woulfin left no crumbs. Now for the third, the Capitals racked up four answered, as Isaiah Ronson scored back-to-back in over a minute. Then Fluhr would snap in his natural hat-trick minutes later. And to cap off Atlanta's scoring streak, Dylan Warmath finished the excursion by tucking one in. However, Pelham wasn't quite done with their scoring, as Hunter had the response after Derksen set him up.
Texas R 1 @ Louisiana 6 - The Louisiana Drillers continue to dominate the NA3 standings and remain undefeated, as yesterday they picked up win number-23 of the season against the Texas Roadrunners. The scoring got started in the second, when Emerson Laroche opened the scoring for the Drillers while short-handed. Five minutes later, the Drillers grabbed another, as Brody Neish capitalized on the power play. Five minutes passed and the Roadrunners got on the board on their own power play, when Joseph Izzo fed Michael Garret to wrist one past Cole Schmidt. Then with a minute left to play, the Drillers took back control of the game and knocked another one in. Brody Haas notched his 11th of the season, while Nathan Moore and Brody Neish cycled it. Now for the third, the Drillers closed it out by scoring three more times. Brayden Pelcl opened the score just 20 seconds in, as Kadyn Garcia and Laroche carried the assists. Not even a minute after and they would score again, as Draydin Johnson made it 5-1. And then to close it all off, Pelcl got himself another one while on the PP, while Neish racked up his 55th apple and Laroche with his 40th.
