Minnesota Goaltender Otis Makes College Commitment

The Minnesota Vulcans, formerly known as the Minnesota Moose, of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that goaltender, Gabe Otis, has committed to play NCAA Division III college hockey for Augsburg University (Minneapolis, Minnesota).

Otis spent two seasons in the NA3HL. During the 2024-25 season, he suited up for six games with the Rochester Grizzlies and seven games with the Minnesota Moose, where he remained for the rest of his NA3HL career. 

During the 2025-26 season, he appeared in 32 games. He boasted a record of 22-9 and earned four shutouts. He finished the regular season with a save percentage of .930.

"Gabe was an absolute game changer and could steal a game for us when he was on,” said Todd Sanden, the head coach of the Vulcans. “His numbers were very good for a goalie at this level and it was noticed, earning him a tender from the St. Cloud Norsemen. We wish Gabe well on his journey with the Auggies.”

Otis ranked fourth among NA3HL goalies in wins, fifth in save percentage, and seventh in goals-against average during the 2025-26 season. 

Otis had multiple shutout games throughout the season. One of his best performances between the pipes occurred on Sep. 20 in his season opener against the Minnesota Wild. He stopped all 26 shots the Wild attempted, backstopping the Moose to a 2-0 win.

Otis will be playing under Zach Stephan at Augsburg, who served as the head coach of the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League last season. 

Otis is one of 12 players from the Minnesota Moose to make a college commitment this season.
