Wednesday Win: Pelham Secures Season Opener Victory

Bayou State 3 @ Pelham 6 - The Pelham Prowlers secured a season-opening victory over the Bayou State Rougarou, earning a 6-3 win on Wednesday. The Prowlers took a 2-0 advantage early as William Hartle opened up the scoring 11 minutes into the contest. Two minutes later, Colton Edman extended the lead after receiving a pass from Hartle who tallied his second point of the first period. Later in the first stanza, the Rougarou climbed back cutting the deficit in half as Kamdyn Smith buried an unassisted marker to make the score 2-1. Bearic Wolle gave Pelham a 3-1 advantage heading into the first intermission. The second period was a battle as neither team could find the back of the net until the final minute of the middle frame. Jacob Hums opened up the scoring to give the Prowlers a three goal advantage, William Hartle would notch his third point of the game. Pelham poured on the pressure as Wolle found Dylan Ray at the 17 minute mark of the second period to net his first goal of the season. Five minutes later, Gavin Vernarsky converted on the power play to make the score 5-2 to close out the period. In the third period, both teams traded scoring chances, Tristan Hall netted a short-handed goal to bring the Rougarou back within two. It was Hartle who netted the insurance marker to secure a 6-3 win for Pelham. Hartle tallied two goals and two assists to end the contest. In net, Zachary Campbell made 22 saves on 25 shots and was credited with the win. Owen Anderson made 58 saves in the loss for Bayou State.
