Sunday Scores: Louisiana Battles Back in Overtime

Louisiana 3 @ Texas 2 (OT) - The Louisiana Drillers rallied for a 3-2 overtime victory against the Texas RoadRunners on Sunday at Spirit Ice. Louisiana opened the scoring with two goals in the first period. Roman Barnes scored midway through the period before Joey Moore III added a goal with 32 seconds remaining to give the Drillers a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Texas responded with two goals in the second period to tie the game. Kristopher Pope scored midway through the period, and Alex McMillan added a goal later in the frame to make it 2-2. Neither team found the back of the net in the third period, sending the game to overtime. With 2:34 remaining in the extra period, Braden Bates scored a short-handed goal to give Louisiana the 3-2 victory. Reece Hutcheson made 17 saves for the Drillers, while Brenden Patterson stopped 58 shots for Texas. Louisiana finished with a 61-19 advantage in shots on goal.

Oklahoma City 0 @ Phoenix 6 - The Phoenix Inferno beat the Oklahoma City Warriors 6-0 on Sunday. Cash Johnson scored first at 13:12 of the first period, assisted by James "JC" Greenwood and Otaro Inoue. Just under three minutes later, Stas Ershov doubled the tally at 10:37, with Nicholas Nunez and Jacob Gabrick lending their sticks for the assist. The first period frenzy continued at 05:49 as Nunez found the net, aided by Gabrick and Colin Digel. The second period saw Nunez lighting the lamp again at 13:09, with Gabrick and Brayden MacMillan orchestrating the play. The third period was kicked off by Nunez scoring a power-play goal at 13:17, assisted by Josh Hyvarinen and Gabrick. Cash Johnson sealed the deal at 09:04, courtesy of Valin Verma and Chase Olson. Nunez completed a hat trick, while Gabrick's vision earned him four assists. Goalie Ryder Ness earned his shutout stripes, stopping all 10 shots on goal. 

Austin 11 @ Bayou State 3 – Austin rolled to an impressive 11-3 win on Sunday over Bayou State with a six goal first period and standout performances from multiple skaters. The Ice Bats came out flying, putting up six goals in the opening frame. They remained in control in the second period, adding three more goals in the middle frame to stretch the lead to 9-2. The Ice Bats closed out the night with two additional goals, finishing the game with an 11-goal output and a massive 53 shots on net. Austin’s Karson Abel was electric, posting a hat trick and an assist, while Jacob Knight recorded 1 goal and 4 assists, setting up chance after chance for the Ice Bats. Austin’s sustained shot pressure and strong top-line execution powered their 11-3 victory. 

Tulsa 2 @ Texas 13 – The Texas Brahmas delivered a commanding offensive performance in a 13-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers. The Brahmas struck five times in the first, added five more in the second, and closed out with three in third. Xavier Othon led the way with a hat trick, Jayani Benson put together a strong all-around night with 2 goals and 2 assists, while Jason Fatta and Dayne Kaufmann both contributed two goals, finding space in the offensive zone. Four more Texas players, Tyler Conrad, Benjamin Humphreys, Joshua Reaska, and John Scharf, each found the back of the net, rounding out a deep scoring effort by the Brahmas. Texas’ combination of puck possession, shot volume, and contributions from all lines carried them to the win.
