Friday Finals: Lumberjacks and Blizzard win

Alexandria Blizzard 3 @ Minnesota Flying Aces 0 - Alexandria came out in the 1st period scoring a shorthanded goal by Ian Ecklund. No other goals were scored until late in the 3rd period by Alexandria’s Aaron Ryback and by Bo Gronseth. Bo’s empty net goal closed out the shutout of Minnesota. Alexandria goalie Evan Bisek made 21 saves for his first shutout of the season. Minnesota’s goaltender had a solid 44 saves in the loss to Alexandria. Boxscore.

Twin City Steel 2 @ Granite City Lumberjacks 3 (OT) - Both teams had a quiet start in the 1st period with no goals coming from either team. In the 2nd period Twin City came out and gained a two goal lead with goals from Calvin Miska and Jace Childs. Granite City cut the Steel’s lead to only one with a late 2nd period goal from Roy Grandov. It was looking like Twin City had the win in the bag until a late 3rd period goal from Christian Mohs tied it all up and sent the game into overtime where Granite City completed the comeback win in overtime by the hands of Taylor Brown.
