Pair of Flint players sign NAHL tenders

February 5, 2014
The Flint Junior Generals of the North American 3 Hockey League are please to announce that two players have recently signed NAHL tenders.

Forward Jacob Drinkard, 17, has signed an NAHL tender with the Austin Bruins, who play in the NAHL’s Central Division and defenseman Ryan Burr, 18, has signed an NAHL tender with the Michigan Warriors, who play in the NAHL’s North Division.

Drinkard, who is a native of Lapeer, Michigan, is in his first season of junior hockey with the Junior Generals. The 6’3/210 lbs. forward has appeared in 26 games this season and recorded 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists). Drinkard got off to a great start this season, recording five points in his first four games.  Drinkard was a draft pick of the Junior Generals in this past summer’s 2013 NA3HL Entry Draft and played midget hockey for the Michigan Ice Hawks last season.

Burr is a native of Toms River, New Jersey and is also in his first season playing junior hockey. Last season, Burr (6’3/195) spent the year playing in the NAPHL for the New Jersey Jr. Titans 18U team. This season, Burr has appeared in 34 games for the 1st place and East Champion Junior Generals and recorded 22 points from the blueline. Burr is 2nd on the Flint roster in scoring for all defensemen. His first career NA3HL goal came in his first career NA3HL game back on September 14th. Last season with New Jersey, Burr had 11 points in 22 games played.

Drinkard and Burr are two of six NA3HL players to have signed an NAHL tender so far this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
