Flying Aces forward Mullendore signs NAHL tender

March 14, 2014
The Minnesota Flying Aces of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are pleased to announce that rookie forward Jake Mullendore has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. The Ice Dogs compete in the Midwest Division of the NAHL and have already staked claim to the 2013-14 Midwest Division regular season title.

Mullendore, 19, is from Amery, Wisconsin and is in his first season of junior hockey with the Flying Aces in the NA3HL. Prior to playing for the Flying Aces, Mullendore (5’11/185) played for Amery High School in Wisconsin and also played on Team Wisconsin in the Upper Midwest High School Elite League.

As a rookie, Mullendore led the Flying Aces in scoring this season with 47 points (24 goals, 23 assists) in 48 games played. He was one of only three Minnesota players to play in all 48 regular season games this year.

Mullendore finished the season on a five-game point streak, but his best hockey of the season came in November when he put together an eight-game scoring streak that totaled 18 points.

Mullendore was also selected to participate in the 2014 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, where he helped Team West to an undefeated record at the event. Mulledore played very well at the event recording seven points in the three wins and was also +9.

Mullendore is the first from this year’s Flying Aces squad to sign an NAHL tender and ninth NA3HL player overall.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
