Alexandria forward Anderson signs NAHL tender

April 11, 2014

Joe Anderson, who played for Team West at the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in February, has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Minnesota Wilderness.

The Alexandria Blizzard of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are pleased to announce that forward Joe Anderson has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Minnesota Wilderness. Minnesota competes in the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Anderson, 19, just completed his second season in the NA3HL with the Blizzard. The native of Hibbing, Minnesota, was 2nd on the team in scoring this season with 72 points (39 goals, 33 assists). Anderson’s 39 goals ranked 1st on the team this season and 4th overall in the NA3HL.

Anderson (5’11/175) also played in the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament back in February in Troy, Michigan, where he helped Team West go undefeated at the event while recording six points (4 goals, 2 assists).

Anderson is no stranger to playing in the NAHL. He has played the past two seasons in the league. During the 2012-13 season, Anderson appeared in 30 regular season games with Brookings and recorded three points. This past season, Anderson played in seven games with Brookings and recorded an assist.

In 61 career NA3HL games with Alexandria, Anderson has 96 points, which includes 47 goals and 49 assists.

Anderson is the second player off of this year’s Alexandria squad to sign an NAHL tender joining teammate Aaron Ryback, who tendered with Brookings.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
