Flint forward Durgan signs NAHL tender

April 16, 2014
The Flint Junior Generals, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are pleased to announce that forward Conor Durgan has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Michigan Warriors.  The Warriors compete in the NAHL’s North Division.

Durgan, 19, just completed his first season playing in the NA3HL for the Junior Generals. The native of Seattle, Washington finished 3rd in team scoring this season with 46 points (23 goals, 23 assists) in 43 regular season games. Durgan’s 23 goals ranked 2nd on the Flint roster. In addition, Durgan had nine points in seven NA3HL Silver Cup Playoff games as the Junior Generals won both the East Division regular season and playoff title, and advanced to the NA3HL Silver Cup Championship Game.

Flint advanced to the USA Hockey Tier III Junior National Championships where they posted a 2-1 record at the event. Durgan (6’2/200) played in all three games at the event and posted a pair of assists.

Back on September 19th, Durgan was named the NA3HL East Division Star of the Week for his efforts. “Conor is a big player that skates really well.  He is a guy that has benefitted in his development this season because of his hard work, focus and talent,” said Flint head coach Steve Howard.

Prior to playing in the NA3HL this season, Durgan played the past two seasons for the Lansing Capitals 18U team in the NAPHL. During the 2012-13 season, Durgan had 13 points in 22 games played and during the 2011-12 season, Durgan also had 13 points in 22 games played. He also appeared in the 2012 NAPHL Top Prospects Tournament.

Durgan is the third player from the Flint Junior Generals team this year to sign an NAHL tender joining defenseman Ryan Burr (Michigan) and forward Jacob Drinkard (Austin).

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
