Six Whalers players make college plans

Zack Johnson had a good showing at the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in February and will play for Iowa State University.
The Wisconsin Whalers of the NA3HL are pleased to announce six new college hockey commitments for the 2014-15 season. Nauris Buskevics (Illinois State, ACHA DII), Chad Frost (Indiana Tech, ACHA DI), Easton Halbert (Aurora University, NCAA DIII), Zack Johnson (Iowa State, ACHA DI), Clayton Janecke (Iowa State, ACHA DI) and D.J. Mussey (Illinois State, ACHA DII).
Nauris Buskevics, 20, a Latvia native appeared in 31 games in his only season in the NA3HL. A solid defenseman (6’0/190) had six points and a +2 rating during his time with the Whalers.
Chad Frost, 20, a defenseman from Clarkston, Michigan appeared in 38 games with the Whalers this season. With a +10 rating and eight assists on the season he had a strong showing for his first season in the NA3HL.
Easton Halbert, 19, a Bemidji, Minnesota native had a strong first season in the NA3HL. Playing in 48 games, he had 35 points on the season with nine goals, 26 assists and a +8 rating as a forward.
Zack Johnson, 20, a forward from Rochester, Minnesota appeared in 39 games with the Whalers this season. He had a strong showing with 26 goals and 45 assists for a total of 71 points. Previously he played in the NAHL with the Austin Bruins during the 2012-13 season and a short stent with Coulee Region during the 2013-14 season. He also did well in the 2014 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament with five points.
Clayton Janecke, 18, a 5’9 defenseman from Scales Mound, Illinois appeared in 46 games this season with the Whalers. In his first season in the NA3HL he had 16 points and a +18 rating.
D.J. Mussey, 20, a Janesville, Wisconsin native did very well in his first season in the NA3HL. Appearing in 47 games he had 10 goals and 22 assists with a total of 32 points. He was also a +16 rating on the season.
