Long time Jr. Blues GM Steckler passes away
June 20, 2014
The St. Louis Jr. Blues of the NA3HL are sad to announce that long-time General Manager, Frank Steckler, has passed away.
"Steck" passed away, with his family at his side on Father's Day. Steck began his tenure with the Jr. Blues over 20 years ago when he served as a Co-General Manager when his son Kraig played for the Jr. Blues. He continued in that capacity well after Kraig moved on, retiring only a couple of years ago.
Despite his retirement from formal duties, Frank continued to support the team and Affton Youth Hockey. He could be found at the ice rink during Jr. Blues games or following his grandchildren around, regardless of sport. Steck rarely missed his grandsons, Cory and Kyle Bryant, who play football at Westminster College in Fulton, MO. He was frequently spotted behind the glass at Affton, watching grandsons, Sean and Ryan Hofstetter, on the ice as they played for their respective Affton CSDHL teams.
Frank touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Please see the arrangements below and please keep the Steckler, Bryant, Hofstetter and Simpson families in your thoughts.
The funeral was held at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19th. Memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
