Brycon Johnson, who has played in both the NA3HL and NAPHL this season, has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Amarillo Bulls.
The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL have announced the defenseman Brycon Johnson has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Amarillo Bulls of the South Division.
Johnson, 18, has spent the majority of the season playing in the NAPHL for the St. Louis Selects 18U team, but recently joined the Lumberjacks for some games.
He debut was an impressive one as he was named the West Division Star of the Week as the native of St. Peters, Missouri was all over the ice as the Lumberjacks split a weekend home-and-home series with the Alexandria Blizzard. Johnson (6’1/196) had five points in the two games.
“It was great to add a veteran and Brycon gave us a spark this weekend. He has great skill and a great head for the game. He is always in the right spot at the right time,” said Granite City head coach Brad Willner.
For the rest of the season, Johnson has played for the St. Louis Selects 18U team in the NAPHL. He ranks 5th among 18U defensemen in scoring so far this season with 15 points in 19 games played.
Johnson has also spent time in the NAHL with both Aberdeen and Springfield and previously played for St. Louis in the NA3HL.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2015.
