Point Mallard forward Cox signs NAHL tender

February 26, 2015
The Point Mallard Ducks, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Jake Cox has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Kenai River Brown Bears. The Brown Bears compete in the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Cox, 17, is in his first season playing junior hockey and first season in the NA3HL with the Ducks. As a 17-year-old, Cox (5’8/165) leads the Ducks in scoring so far this season with 50 points (20 goals, 30 assists) in 45 games played. He also leads the team in plus/minus with a +23 rating.

The signing comes on the heels of Cox playing in the 2015 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, where Cox played on the NA3HL 18U Selects Team, which went 1-0-1 at the event in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Monday and Tuesday this week.

Cox led the NA3HL 18U Selects in scoring during the event with three points, all assists, in the two games. He was a +3.

The native of Columbus, Georgia, began his NA3HL career in grand fashion as he finished Runner-Up for the NA3HL Forward of the Month during September. His five game-winning goals ranks him tied for 8th in the NA3HL.

For the past four seasons, Cox has played at the Tier I level for the TPH Thunder, including last year with the 16U team.
