Former NAHL defenseman signs AHL deal

The Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) have signed defenseman Taylor Vichorek.

Vichorek, from Moose Lake, Minn., spent three years in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) from 2006-09, splitting time between the Alexandria Blizzard and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. 

He participated on the 2009 Sherwood/NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.

This season, the 21-year-old appeared in 26 games for Hamline University (MIAC) in St. Paul, where he scored six goals and seven assists to go along with 45 penalty minutes and a plus-8 rating.

In 151 career NAHL games, Vichorek, who stands 6-foot-7, 245 pounds, registered 20 goals and 27 assists with 362 penalty minutes.

The Admirals are the AAA affiliate of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.
