The Robert Morris University Hockey Team (Illinois) is pleased to announce that two NA3HL players have announced their plans to continue their education and hockey careers at the school. Robert Morris are members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I.
Billings Bulls captain Nick Rizzo has committed to play for ACHA DI Robert Morris University. Rizzo, a 6'1, 215 lb. defenseman from Leavenworth, KS will step right into the line up for a team with hopes of winning a National Championship. The right-handed blue liner recorded 12 goals and 21 assists in his final NA3HL season, and was an impressive +22. RMU finished ranked fifth in the country this past season, and continues its tradition of using the NA3HL as its primary source of recruits.
"We see Nick as one of the essential pieces of the puzzle, someone who can provide toughness in our zone and offensive spark at the other end of the ice," said Hockey Director Tom Wendlandt. "And like so many players we recruit from the league, he's a high character kid, a leader who will fit perfectly into our culture.
Twin City Steel defenseman Chris Skordilis has committed to ACHA DI Robert Morris University. A 5'11, 190 right hand shot, Skardillas is gifted with strong vision, and tallied 6 goals to go with 12 assists for the Steel. A native of Park Ridge, Il who came to the Steel after playing with Flint the season before, Skardillas will be joining 3 former teammates from Flint at RMU. RMU continues its tradition of building its program with NA3HL players. Skardillas is the second NA3HL player to commit to RMU for next season, and he joins 15 other NA3HL alumni already on the team.
"We know that players who come from the league are battle-tested, ready, and appreciative of what we offer at Robert Morris," said Hockey Director Tom Wendlandt. "Chris fits the exact profile of the young men we know are successful in the classroom and on the ice."
