Chicago forward Kalas makes college commitment

June 1, 2015
Lewis University is happy to announce that NA3HL and Chicago Jr. Bulldogs center Dane Kalas (5'10" 175) has committed for the 2015-16 season.

Kalas, a 1997 birth year from Grayslake, IL, showed tremendous growth in his only season of junior hockey.  In 24 games he recorded 8 goals and 7 assists with Chicago.

"Dane is a high motor player, very explosive skating ability. He can finish offensively and plays with a nasty side. All are things we need in our lineup this fall. Kalas will translate nicely to the college game and into our style of play here at Lewis. We look forward to big things from the young man as he progresses during his career as a Flyer," stated Head Coach Tim Picco

Lewis University shares the same rink as the Chicago Bulldogs NA3HL team and just completed there 4th season going 23-7 overall in ACHA D2 play. They are members of the Northern Collegiate Hockey League.

Kalas is the third NA3HL commit to the program this season. He joins Chicago Bulldogs teammate Scott Schroeder and Granite City forward Alex Carson in the 15'-16' class.  The latest signing will give the Flyers a total of nine Na3hl alumni on there roster this fall.
