Helena forward Bolen-Porter makes NCAA commitment
July 1, 2015
The Helena Bighorns of the NA3HL are proud to announce another player from the 2014-15 Bighorns has made his college commitment. Kendall Bolen-Porter committed to NCAA Division III Finlandia University of the NCHA for the start of the 2015 school year.
Bolen-Porter appeared in 45 regular season games accumulating 15 goals, 33 assists for a total of 48 points and a plus/minus rating of +29.
Bolen-Porter led by example on the ice for the Bighorns this past season and will be a great asset to his new squad. His quickness and creativity were highlights in the long list of attributes that made Kendall a top scorer for the Bighorns.
Coach Jon Jonasson credits Kendall’s hard work and love of the game for his achievement on moving on to college. “Kendall had a great season with us in Helena this year. He was one of the most skilled players in the division and we were fortunate to have him part of our program. Kendall has more passion for the game than most players. Finlandia is lucky to have a player with his skill set and passion for the game. We look forward to seeing what he does the next 4 years at the NCAA Level,” said Jonasson.
Bolen-Porter also was selected to and played in the 2015 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament back in February where he played for the Frontier Division team.
Bolen-Porter was recruited by several NCAA Division III schools that showed interest in him, but ultimately chose Finlandia as his top choice for his academic path and the best fit to continue his hockey career into the collegiate level.
