Yellowstone Quake
2014-15 Record: 9-34-4, 22 pts. (7th in the Frontier Division)
2014-15 Playoffs: Did not qualify
Head Coach: Ryan Theros
2015-16 Division: Frontier

The Yellowstone Quake started off their first season in the NA3HL with disappointment. They finished last place in the Frontier division and failed to make the playoffs. They are hoping to turn things around this season and make a push for the playoffs.

The Quake needed to make changes to get the team on the right track and the first thing they did was hire a new head coach in Ryan Theros. Theros hails from Two Harbors, Minnesota and brings with him playing experience as well as coaching experience at the high school level and junior hockey level.

Theros is happy with the make up of his roster and is eager to get his first season in the NA3HL started. “I am very excited about this season as new Head Coach and GM, Looking forward to see what the time that was put into recruiting comes out to be on the ice here this season. We have a core of returning players from last years team along with quite a few new players on the Quake Roster. I think we will be a fast paced strong physical team. We have a great group of young men on the team this season that are all here to work hard as a team,” said Theros.

The Quake will return seven players from last year’s team that they will rely on for leadership this year. They include leading scorer from a year ago, forward Max Doner. Doner represented Yellowstone at the 2015 Top Prospects Tournament as part of the 18U select team. He will be counted on to lead the offense once again this season. The team also returns the team’s second leading scorer from last season in Mike McCullen. McCullen finished the season with 13 goals and 18 assists. Another returning forward that will be counted on to provide offense is Will Landsverk. He posted a strong season a year ago with 9 goals and 12 assists.

The Quake will also have the luxury of having returning starting goalie Lance Knudson return to the team. Knudson played in 31 games last season and posted strong numbers despite seeing difficult circumstances. With an experienced line up returning to the Quake head coach Theros has the make up of a very talented squad.

The Quake will once again compete in the Frontier division. The Frontier division was one of the most competitive divisions in the league last year as the top three teams were separated by one win and coach Theros expects his team to be competitive every night in the Frontier division. “The Expectations for this season is to get better everyday individually and as a team through commitment and dedication. Our Goal is to be a team in our division that competes at a high level throughout,” said Theros. The Quake open the season with a weekend series at home against Great Falls on September 25 and 26 at 7:30PM.

This concludes the 2015 NA3HL 34 in 34 series
