Southern Tier and Twin City post wins on Friday

West Michigan 1 @ Southern Tier 2 - Behind a great game by Kyler Chartier, who had two goals, Southern Tier defeated West Michigan, 2-1. Chartier scored at 10:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Southern Tier and again while 1:39 into the third to make the score 2-1 Southern Tier. Southern Tier was led by goalie Tyler Geloneck, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal.  Southern Tier stifled West Michigan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Southern Tier's offense rang up 33 shots on West Michigan's net. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Tier were Justin Andriaccio, Ingus Matins, Isaiah Crawford, and Victor McCutcheon, who each chipped in one. West Michigan was led by Brandon Benaglio, who scored the team's only goal. Benaglio scored 7:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Devin Farkas assisted on the tally. Twin City Steel 5 @ Breezy Point 3 - The game between Twin City and Breezy Point was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Twin City emerged with a 5-3 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Ben Hersman at 4:38 of the third period. Twin City was led by Hersman, who had one goal and one assist. Twin City's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Twin City additionally got points from Tom Reilly, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Twin City also had goals scored by Zak Lambrecht, Trevor Woytcke, and Tristan Mayer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Twin City received assists from Jared Erickson, who had two and Nicholas Campbell, Joe Costello, Jay Paul, and Bennett Witta, who contributed one each. Breezy Point was helped by Josh Laven, who registered one goal. Laven scored 3:08 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Breezy Point. Others who scored for Breezy Point included Sean Viti and Reise Kieffer, who each put in one. More assists for Breezy Point came via Josh Malin and Nik Boyer, who each chipped in one.
