Maine edges East Coast on Wednesday, 4-3

Maine 4 @ East Coast 3 - The game between Maine and East Coast was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Maine emerged with a 4-3 win. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Shayne Plummer's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Plummer was all over the ice for Maine, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Plummer scored the first of his two goals at 7:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Maine. Noel Fischer assisted on the tally. Plummer's next tally made the score 4-3 Maine with 9:34 left in the third period. Fischer picked up the assist. Maine kept East Coast's goalie busy throughout the game, and Travis Spangle made 39 saves on 43 shots. Maine also got points from Collin Fader, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Travis Townsend also scored for Maine. In addition, Maine received assists from Riley Lavoie and William Dunham, who each chipped in one. East Coast was helped by Andrew Irving, who racked up two goals. Irving scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 East Coast. Rick Mulligan provided the assist. Irving's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 19:35 left in the third period. Mulligan assisted on the tally.
