Wooster defenseman Watts gets call to the NAHL
December 2, 2015
The Wooster Oilers, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that defenseman Jason Watts has been called up to the NAHL to play for the Odessa Jackalopes, who compete in the NAHL’s South Division.
Watts, 19, is in his first season playing in the NA3HL, but fourth overall with the Oilers organization. The native of Crestwood, KY, was named the NA3HL’s East Division Star of the Week back on November 3rd as he had four assists in the two games.
Watts (6’0/230) has 14 points (1 goal, 13 assists) and is a +5 in 20 games played with Wooster so far this season.
“Jason has been with Aaron and I since our first season in Wooster. Each year he just keeps getting better not only as a player, but as a human being and closer to achieving his goal of playing in the NAHL and college. He has been our captain since last season. Players know who he is and know they will have to battle to get the best of him. We wish him the best of luck in the NAHL this week,” said Wooster head coach Valentino Hernandez.
He is the second Oiler player this season to get an NAHL opportunity. Jeffrey Skinner, who played last season with Wooster, is currently 3rd in scoring for the NAHL’s Springfield Jr. Blues.
