Cape Cod defenseman Szeker makes NCAA commitment
February 1, 2016
The Cape Cod Islanders, proud members of the NA3EHL, are pleased to announce that defenseman Eric Szeker has committed to play NCAA hockey at St. Olaf College. St. Olaf is an NCAA Division III program in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Szeker, 20, is in his second season playing in the NA3EHL for the Islanders. The native of Allentown, NJ is having a tremendous season to date as he leads all NA3EHL defensemen in scoring so far this season with 42 points (7 goals, 35 assists) in 35 games played for the 1st place Islanders. He is also an incredible +33 from the blue line this season.
Szeker (6’1/195) was also part of the NA3EHL East Division prospects team that played in the NA3HL Showcase in December. In three games, he had one assist.
Szeker has played in 66 career NA3EHL regular season games and recorded 51 points.
He is currently riding an 11-game point streak, which included a team record run by the Islanders, which saw them win 17 games in a row before falling this past Sunday to Jersey Shore.
