Flying Aces, Blizzard defenseman Erickson makes NCAA commitment
February 16, 2016
The Minnesota Flying Aces, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that defenseman Luke Erickson (Woodbury, Minnesota) has committed to play NCAA Hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College. Gustavus Adolphus College is a proud member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and is located in St. Peter, Minnesota.
“Luke is a solid hockey player and a stand up guy,” said Flying Aces Head Coach Jim Jensen. “He worked hard for my program this season and I know that he will help the defensive core at Gustavus next year. I am happy to see him achieving his goal of playing college hockey as well as pursuing his degree at a fine institution like Gustavus Adolphus.”
Erickson led the Flying Aces defensemen with 11 points (3G, 8A) in 22 games after coming to Minnesota in a trade from the Billings Bulls. “I’m very excited for the opportunity to continue my education and hockey career at Gustavus,” said Erickson. “I’d like to thank both Coach Jensen of the Flying Aces and Coach Richardson of the Billings Bulls for helping me accomplish my dream to play college hockey.”
Recently at the trade deadline, Coach Jensen traded Erickson to the playoff bound Alexandria Blizzard to have the chance to make a run at the end of his junior career. Prior to his time in the NA3HL, Erickson played high school hockey in Minnesota for Minnehaha Academy.
Erickson is also playing for the West Division team at this week’s NA3HL Top Prospect Tournament.
