Overtimes highlight Day 1 of Silver Cup Playoffs

Frontier Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Gillette 6 @ Yellowstone 5 (OT) (Gillette leads best of 3 series, 1-0) - Gillette's Cade Boreing scored 45 seconds into overtime to beat Yellowstone, 6-5 (OT). After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series in favor of Gillette, Yellowstone faces elimination next time out. Gillette overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Gillette was down 5-3 after a goal by Yellowstone's Curtis Greenbush at 7:23 in the second period. Gillette tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Nick Scherbinin at 6:41 in the third period. With three goals and three assists between them, Scherbinin and Alex King teamed up to power Gillette's offense. Scherbinin tallied two goals and one assist and King also notched one goal and two assists. Gillette forced Yellowstone goalie Lance Knudson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Gillette additionally got points from Jack Oberg, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and King, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Gillette also got a goal from Riley Holwegner as well. In addition, Gillette received assists from Tyler Reble, who had two and Garrett Medina, Gennadi Zabeline, and Brett Kramer, who each chipped in one. Yellowstone also had goals scored by Reed Kelly, Manuel Manero, and Matt Runyon, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Tony Dahlberg, Jake Dickison, and Nick Ligocki, who contributed one each and Hunter Ruschmeyer, Nicholas Elliot, and Tristan Henrichs, who each chipped in two. Alex Feese recorded 41 saves for Gillette.

Frontier Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Bozeman 1 @ Great Falls 2 (2 OT) (Great Falls leads best of 3 series, 1-0) - Great Falls pulled out a 2-1 (OT) overtime victory over Bozeman on a clutch goal by Jesse Johnson. After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Bozeman faces elimination next time out. Great Falls' Jake Stephan was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 40 saves and let only one puck past him.  Great Falls was paced by Johnson, who tallied one goal. Johnson scored 1:29 into the 2nd overtime make the score 2-1 Great Falls. Ricards Bernhards picked up the assist. Great Falls forced Bozeman goalie Stephen Frank to work between the pipes, taking 63 shots. Great Falls also got a goal from Brendan Jester as well. More assists for Great Falls came via Stevan Goran, Josh Larson, and Miles Giorgione, who each chipped in one. Bozeman was led by Zach Frasier, who scored the team's only goal. Frasier scored 5:14 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Bozeman. Steven Nisbet assisted on the tally.
 
Midwest Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Peoria 1 @ Nashville 4 (Nashville leads best of 3 series, 1-0) - Dylan Schmidt finished with one point to lead Nashville to a 4-1 victory over Peoria. After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Peoria faces elimination next time out. Nashville kept Peoria's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ross Lipic made 33 saves on 37 shots. Nashville also had goals scored by Max Dorfman, Jesse Hyde, and Nathan Rieman, who each put in one. In addition, Nashville received assists from Peter Cabala, Riley McCann, Michael Redmon, Logan Orem, Trent Kulczyk, and Conor Cunningham, who each chipped in one. Peoria was led by Jason Hoehn, who scored the team's only goal. Hoehn scored 4:51 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Nashville. Aaron Siegrist provided the assist. Nashville's Ricky Gonzalez stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced.
 
Central Division Semi-Finals, Game 1: Wisconsin 2 @ La Crosse 3 (La Crosse leads best of 3 series, 1-0) - In a game where neither team could get a cushion, La Crosse escaped with a 3-2 victory over Wisconsin. La Crosse gained the winning advantage on a goal by Mick Nisbet 9:42 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Wisconsin faces elimination next time out. La Crosse was led by Nisbet, who registered one goal and one assist. La Crosse kept Wisconsin's goalie busy throughout the game, and Max McConnell made 28 saves on 31 shots. La Crosse additionally got points from Ben Henderson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. La Crosse also got a goal from Daniel Toycen as well. Other players who recorded assists for La Crosse were Patrick Gazich, JP Eykyn, and Taylor Trapp, who each chipped in one. Wisconsin was helped by Jake McNamara, who finished with one goal. McNamara scored 3:24 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Austin Lewis provided the assist. Ben Ratner also scored for Wisconsin. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Caleb Vosters, Thomas Hanson, and Connor Boscaccy, who contributed one each. Will Graves rejected 34 shots on goal for La Crosse.
