Granite City defenseman Finley makes college commitment
June 13, 2016
The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Kevin Finley has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey at Midland University for the 2016-17 season. The Alexandria, Minnesota native becomes the fourth player to sign with the Midland Warriors this offseason.
"Kevin is another big body defenseman that will make us harder to play against," said Midland head coach Jason Cirone." He comes from an organization that wins and that will rub off on our guys and make us a better team."
Finley played four years of high school hockey for the Alexandria Cardinals in Alexandria, Minnesota before joining the Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL for the 2014-15 season. In his first year with Granite City, Kevin tallied 11 assists in 32 games and was part of a Silver Cup championship winning team. This past year in 2015-16, Finley had 11 assists and added 3 goals from the point.
Kevin was joined at the signing by his parents Bill and Jenna Finley.
The Warriors finished their 2015-16 season with a record of 16-12-8, improving on their record of 10-29 from the program's inaugural campaign in 2014-15. Midland was ranked as high as No. 25 in the ACHA Weekly Coaches' Poll last year. The Warriors will look to continue to build on their success in the 2016-17 season.
