NA3HL announces Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week

Honors go to Taylor Dickert (Wisconsin), Dom Lamanno (New England), Nolan Puhala (Pittsburgh), Angus Campbell (Helena), Trevor Veneklase (Cincinnati), Dominik Bogdziul (Binghamton), William Rooney (Euless), Logan Nelson (Alexandria).

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) announced today the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending November 13, 2016. The divisional stars of the week are an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Taylor Dickert, forward, Wisconsin Whalers
With two goals on Friday night, Taylor Dickert had a strong performance for the Wisconsin Whalers. Both of the Middleton, WI native’s goals were registered on the power play. Head Coach Tom McDermott commented on Dickert’s efforts by saying, “Great to see him get some results for all his hard work.”

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Dom Lamanno, goaltender, New England Stars
A stellar Saturday night performance by Dom Lamanno led the New England Stars to a 3-1 win over the Jersey Show Wildcats. The Oceanside, NY native collected 26 saves through all 60 minutes in the win. “Lamanno was exceptional on Saturday night vs. Jersey Shore.  His compete level and tracking were superb.  He made many grade A saves, which included stopping two breakaways,” said Head Coach Darryl Green.

East Division Star of the Week: Nolan Puhala, forward, Pittsburgh Vengeance
Firing up the Vengeance offense this week was forward Nolan Puhala. The Pittsburgh, PA native grabbed three goals and an assist over the weekend, completing his performance with a +4 rating. On Friday, Puhala was credited the game-winning goal. “Nolan has really been developing as player in recent weeks, and has added a needed scoring threat to our line up,” said General Manager and Head Coach David Dorsey.

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Angus Campbell, goaltender, Helena Bighorns
Snagging his first win of the season, Angus Campbell stood tall in net to take down Frontier Division rival Missoula. The Kelowna, BC native registered 54 saves throughout the night in the win. “Previously, Helena had lost 4 in a row to Missoula. Angus allowed one goal in the third, and then shut Missoula down, including a 26 save 3rd period to get the win,” said General Manager and Head Coach Wendell Richards.

2nd Star: Carter Johnson, forward, Yellowstone Quake
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jarrett Scheibel, forward, Helena Bighorns

 

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Trevor Veneklase, forward, Cincinnati Thunder
In a big weekend at home, Trevor Veneklase grabbed two goals and four assists for the Thunder. The Brentwood, TN native’s six points came up big in Sunday’s win over the Nashville Jr. Predators. “Trevor is a much improved player for us this season.  After our group struggled on Saturday night, we bounced back in a big way on Sunday, and Trevor led the way offensively.  He's a big forward, who is getting stronger, and understands the game really well.  He's always been a reliable defensive forward for us, and it's great to see him continue to develop his offensive game,” said General Manager and Head Coach Ryan Colville

2nd Star: Sam Maddox, forward, St. Louis Jr. Blues
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Mihali See, forward, Cincinnati Thunder

 

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Dominik Bogdziul, forward, Binghamton Jr. Senators
Powering through with an 11-point weekend, Binghamton’s Dominik Bogdziul made his presence known at the front of the net. The Vilnius, Lithuania native tallied seven goals and four assists, which included two power-play goals and the game-winning goal on Sunday night. Bogdziul was a +8 through the weekend. “Dom had a dominant weekend. His five goal performance on Sunday was an incredible achievement. We are very proud of Dom's performance,” said Assistant Coach Nick Perri

2nd Star: Eric Vanderhoff, forward, Skylands Kings
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Matt Allen, forward, Syracuse Stampede – Connor Landrigan, forward, Binghamton Jr. Senators – Mathias Yttereng, goaltender, Skylands Kings

 

South Division Star of the Week: William Rooney, forward, Euless Jr. Stars
Stepping up on offense for the Jr. Stars, William Rooney registered three goals and an assist for Euless. From Robinsdale, MN, Rooney had the game-winning goal on Saturday, and finished the weekend a +5. “Rooney always comes to play. He contributes his big play-making skills on a daily basis. He plays the right way, as he definitely has a niche for the net,” said General Manager and Head Coach Don Babineau.

2nd Star: Kyle Klatt, forward, Atlanta Capitals
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Connor Fewster, goaltender, Atlanta Capitals – Tristan Wilson, forward, Euless Jr. Stars

 

West Division Star of the Week: Logan Nelson, forward, Alexandria Blizzard
With a ten-point weekend, Alexandria forward Logan Nelson lead the Blizzard to victory over the weekend. Registering four goals and six assists, the St. Michael, MN native grabbed two power-play goals, and finished out at a +6. “Logan was a threat every time he stepped on the ice this past weekend. He used his speed to create his offense, and played well in both ends of the rink,” said Head Coach Jeff Crouse. 

2nd Star: Steven Gustafson, defenseman, Alexandria Blizzard
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Braden Altena, forward, Granite City Lumberjacks – Christian Lenzmeier, forward, Breezy Point North Stars – Bronson Moore, goaltender, Breezy Point North Stars – Owen Sikich, forward, Granite City Lumberjacks
