Peoria forward Stewart signs NAHL tender
January 20, 2017
The Peoria Mustangs, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Braden Stewart has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Kenai River Brown Bears of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.
Stewart, 18, is in his second season of playing in the NA3HL for the Mustangs. The homegrown native of East Peoria, Illinois, currently leads the team in scoring this season with 51 points (22 goals, 29 assists) in 29 games played, along with a +43 rating.
Back on September 22nd, he was named the Midwest Division Star of the Week.
Last season, Stewart (6’0/170) appeared in 46 games for the Mustangs and record 24 points. He was also selected to and played in the 2016 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division team.
He is the first Mustangs player this season to sign an NAHL tender.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 6, 2017.
