Long Beach names NHL great Stemkowski Director of Player Development & Scouting

The Long Beach Sharks (NA3HL) Junior Hockey team announced today that an agreement has been reached with Stanley Cup Champion and NHL-great, Pete Stemkowski.
 
Stemkowski played in the NHL for fifteen (15) seasons with the New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Los Angeles Kings and will serve as the Shark’s Director of Player Development & Scouting. 
 
In addition to his role with the Sharks, Stemkowski works as a color commentator for the New York Rangers radio broadcasts. He previously worked several seasons as the San Jose Sharks` TV color commentator and several more on radio.
 
“We are honored to have Stemmer join the organization. Our guys are incredibly happy to have a Stanley Cup champion and NHL All- Star help them develop and progress their hockey ambitions to college and beyond,” said Director of Hockey Operations, George Chalos. 
 
Team General Manager, Buzz Deschamps remarked: “Peter has been a good friend of mine for many years. He is a winner and one of the greats in our sport. We are going to have a lot of fun.”
 
Stemkowski won the Memorial Cup with the Toronto Marlies (OHL); is an Honored Member of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame, as well as the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame in Hamtramck, Michigan. He is ranked No. 54 on the all-time list of New York Rangers in the book 100 Ranger Greats (John Wiley & Sons, 2009).
